I am considering purchasing this printer and was wondering what any Hogs who own one think of it. Any issues, concerns etc?
Thanks

Issues? Nah. unless the size, ink quantity, and degree of complication are negative factors for you. It is huge, weights about 40 lbs. It requires 8 ink cartraiges. I had the manual printed in book form and it is over 500 pages long. However, the prints it produces are great, any size from 4x6 to 13x19. When purchased "right" it can be fairly inexpensive. A few years ago Canon decided to saturate the market and sold these printers for $100.00 after discounts and rebates. At the time Canon sold the printer for a discounted price of $399.00, then offered a $300.00 rebate. Included was a package of 50 sheets of 13x19 inch paper. Several members here went that route and bought the printer. I do not recall hearing any complaints. I have printers that are faster but there are no complaints from me concerning that issue. Be absolutely sure that the size (physical dimensions are 27x16) isn't going to be a problem for you. The printer is worth every bit of the $99.00 I have invested in it.

I have had the Pixma Pro-100 photo printer for two years and I have printed hundreds of photos with out a problem.
My only issues is that I wish the ink "Tanks" were larger.

I bought one of these at the $300 rebate on $399 price--thought there must be a catch but there wasn't. I had (still do, in the shed) an Epson that cost I think $1400 and it never worked well--I might get a print after wasting 8 or 10 sheets of paper. The Canon plugged in and began making 13x19's beautifully. I have a cheap Brother laser b/w printer for documents (no inks). True, the Canon has 8 inks, but they last me awhile and are easy to switch out, and it is all those inks that give the quality prints. The printer tells you when to replace, and connects you to Canon to order. Then, Canon sends them 2-day delivery, with free things (often a lot of free paper)--I have never bought paper for it. I have never had any problems with it. I use the cable provided with it because it is next to the computer and I can't help thinking that must be better contact than wireless.

I've owned one for a couple of years and yes it's big and heavy and it should be to produce the beautiful photos that it does. You cannot beat the price/performance ratio of the Pixma Pro-100. As far as ink is concerned if you use a lot of ink refill your own cartridges with Precision Color Inks: http://precisioncolors.com/

Thanks for the ink tip, WayneT. I gather that you feel the quality of your prints are as good as with Canon inks?

Other than the cost of ink, which will be the same for any 8 color photorealsitic printer, no. The Pro-100 is truly amazing.

It is not necessary, but helpful when using a photorealistic printer, to do a hardware color calibration of your monitor(s).

I have one of its predecessors, the Pixma Pro 9000 mk II, which is fairly similar and excellent. No problems in over 4 years.

I bought this printer when it went on sale a few years ago. I have not had any problems at all with it. Ink tanks being too small but then use it only for photos that you intend to mount. It is a fabulous printer even makes my photos look great

I bought a different printer for everything else and use a different manufacturers ink. that saves on the ink on the 100

Precision Colors also have custom profiles for their inks and recently released a special profile just for Canon Pro Luster lu-101.

I bought this printer at the discounted price noted above. It produces nice prints, but uses a lot of ink. Before I print a 13X19, I will print a 4X6 to see if I have it laid out properly. The only issue I have had is that my prints do not exactly match the colors on the monitor. I buy the ink directly from Canon, and they sometimes offer "free" paper with the purchase of ink. I now have stacks of all kinds and sizes of paper, just tempting me to print another photo, and use more ink. It is large and takes up a lot of space. I also have a Canon MX920 printer, and although it does not make the larger prints, I am very happy with the quality. I seem to get the colors better with this smaller printer.
