The Nikon folks are great; they handle their business very professionally and polite at the same time. Be careful of lenses purchased at Best Buy, Kits Camera and Image, Costco, or anywhere I suppose--lenses sold at these places tend to be manufactured in China. The price might be right but the quality is, well, cheap. I bought a Nikkor 55-200mm, didn't think to look where it was made (China,) got it home, used it once and on the second outing it literally fell apart. That was my experience, anyway. Now, I look!

I must also commend Nikon for the way they are handling this recall. You call in your serial number to Nikon and they confirm whether or not is a recall item. They then send out a UPS courier to recover the bad battery and hand deliver a replacement to you on the spot.
Now THATS the way to handle a problem!!!!
KUDOS Nikon!
(And a perfunctory BOO to Sony who manufactures these batteries for Nikon cameras.)

What about the lenses made in Thailand? Just checked mine for my D7000 and D90.
You know, my "Go To" lens, Nikkor 70-300mm, was made in Thailand. I used in on my last three deployments to the desert in dust, sand and temperatures up to 140 degrees, with no problem. Thailand is about 2,000 miles from China so who knows? Maybe it was just THAT particular lens on the line the day it was put together, I don't know. I do know that my 70-300 made in Thailand is really "light" compared to my Tamron 70-200 made in Japan. Lenses made in Japan not only feel sturdy but the glass is really nice. It's the GLASS that makes the difference.
Hmmmmm...interesting about the lenses made in Japan. It's too bad that having the Nikkor name does not mean the same quality, because it depends on where it's made. I am just an average photographer, and am still learning about what you have to watch for. Thank you for your reply.

I'm glad things are OK for another fan of pugs.
Canon is the same way; their top line lenses (L) have a red line around the top of the lens and pricey. Their imported lenses (gray market lenses) are less expensive and plastic workings making them lighter as well. Spending $$$$ on a good lens is well worth it. Just depends on what you're willing to spend. The D3100 Nikon camera kit package deal at Costco for $900 is a really good buy! You get the camera body, 18-55mm, 55-200mm (both VR), and a couple of DVD's to show you things and a 4g card. You can take some really nice shots with that. But, good glass makes all the difference. And good glass is expensive AND, they don't come in "kits."
Thanks for posting, just checked and I'm good. I'll pass this on to others.

OK, mine dress up and pose. They love the camera! I love how Pugs will sleep like that. Mine do too.
Oh my goodness! That is too cute!!! You should send that in to various mags--I can't believe they sat still for that let alone let you dress them up! Nice shot.

They are amazing. The second I turn on a camera and get the clothes out they are ready to pose. This is my HMO...can't get better health care. By the way I used my Nikon D7000 for both the shots.
You're killing me! They are too funny (and cute)!!! Well, I don't know what you're into, but if I had puppies not only willing to pose but liked to, I would put a series together for a book. It would sell. And you shoot really nice photos as well.
