I read that Nikon is recalling certain batches of the EN-EL15 battery that is used in the D800, D7000 and Nikon 1 V1. Supposedly some batteries can short circuit and fry your camera. Nobody wants that to happen! Here's a link to the Nikon website for more information.

VERY limited production batteries (February and March 2012 dates). Most of them were shipped with the D800 and J1 cameras in March and April. I have 3 and none of them are involved in the recall.

True, and my two batteries weren't part of the recall, either. But I'd hate to hear about someone on UHH run into a problem with their brand new D800 - better to do a quick check than have a really bad day, IMHO.

No doubt. These batteries are in short supply due to the D800 and D800E introduction, as well as the resumption of D7000 production. I saw 4 on the shelf at my local Best Buy just 2 days ago though. Maybe I will stop in and see if they are recall serial numbers.
They are great batteries, I cannot believe the shooting life I get out of them!

I must also commend Nikon for the way they are handling this recall. You call in your serial number to Nikon and they confirm whether or not is a recall item. They then send out a UPS courier to recover the bad battery and hand deliver a replacement to you on the spot.
Now THATS the way to handle a problem!!!!
KUDOS Nikon!
(And a perfunctory BOO to Sony who manufactures these batteries for Nikon cameras.)

They never did address the AF hunting problem with the Mk II, just let it slide. Only time will tell.
Oh, and what happened to the 1DX that was supposed to release last September, November, January, May, Summer????????
