Or by lifting them from somewhere else.....

Why should anyone care what the pros leave behind or what the market follows?....🤔

Why? I have no idea...but it definitely drives a LOT of markets...

Cameras...sneakers...shirts...gold clubs...name it...the pro effect is real.

Your caring or not.

An amateur will tend to believe hard work is what brings good luck and success. Professional photographers know the secret is a full-frame mirrorless camera.

The success rests entirely on the absence of the mirror......

Yes, but we will likely never know why they are really shooting what they are shooting.

In the case of the big organizations which have switched recently, was it because there was a big clamoring from the field to move to what was selected? Or was it because the new choice was a lot cheaper? Or was it because big rebates on purchases go back to Corporate Purchasing to offset their bloated operational budget? That's exactly what happened at my last company when we switched to a much inferior provider of packaging supplies, then left us to solve thr headaches.

...I don't ask alot of esoteric questions, but I *do* go by what information I can gather and trust. We're all like that, Larry, eh? I don't think your analogy is apt, comparing your old company to today's Sony/Canon/Nikon offerings just doesn't make sense. The pros I know and observe via whatever source are the ones who are "out there" and not of the Northrop genre <shrug> but it's still a trust thing before every purchase for me. YMMV.

We should have a new "mirrorless' forum. This way, those of us who are satisfied with our clunky, old, DSLR's won't have to listen to the constant preaching about the mirrorless. It almost makes me vomet when I'm told I will never truly have a feel for life until I kneel at the mirrorless altar and convert to the no mirror god.

HUH?

Coexist. Learn from others who use different gear from what you use. I once used film. I once used dSLRs. I have nothing against 8x10 view cameras, or Minox cameras, or smartphone cameras, or Mirrorless Cameras. I use Lumix, but I have used Canon and Nikon and Pentax and several other brands at times. Pick yer tools and go make images.

There are features for everyone. It's nice to hear about them. But please don't be under the illusion that one 'thing' is the best thing of all. It might be your best choice, but that doesn't have to apply to everyone else.

Over my life I have used many types of cameras. Each of these types has its strengths and weaknesses.
View cameras cannot be beat for architectural and landscape photos. These cameras are indeed mirrorless too. I have also made many interesting photos with pinhole cameras. These cameras, too, are mirrorless.

I have both a DSLR and modern electronic mirroless cameras and both can make great photos.

Quit griping and make great photos and use whatever equipment works for the task. Consider renting different cameras for various purposes. When folks see great photos, they do not care what camera that you used.

I agree with half of what was said in this thread.

I disagree with the other half.

I do not believe anything will be accomplished here, and feel strongly that we should ask ADMIN for two new sections so that everything will become clear to everyone who participates.

Everything becomes clear when you see you need a mirrorless camera.

No matter what group that I participate in, the I call them the "My dog is better than your dog" people, are there. They will always be, and that you can be sure of. Sometimes I learn something from them, sometimes not. I have no problem with someone favoring their brand, type, etc. over what I have and use. It does not take away or diminish what I use and do in any way shape or form. To me closing off that stream of information and or bias is short sighted. I am an adult and I can handle other people favoring and promoting that which works for them. My camera does not start taking crappy pictures simply because you prefer a different system than I use.
Again I ask that this group is not further segregated.

Dslr cameras take photos. Mirrorless cameras take photos. Phone cameras take photos. Point and shoot cameras take photos.
I think it would be a huge disservice to users of any/all types of cameras to segregate them into separate sections.
I enjoy knowing what brand and type of device was used. If the brand and type are different from what I use, I enjoy knowing that and that information does not have any effect on the type and brand that I own and use.
All the the posts here, no matter what type of brand was used is valid information.
Please do not create this asked for division.
I do not feel diminished as an amateur photographer by other brands and types of cameras, nor does it make me feel that my cameras are not good enough.
