After all this "I am fully satisfied and not getting anything new" it will be hilarious when the next Nikon lens/camera comes out and all the posts of those same people preordering...

I am almost satisfied but not getting anything new.

I said that before the D6 came out.
I said that after the D6 came out.
I said that before all the mirrorless cameras came out.
I said that after the Z9 was announced.

I will be saying that until something comes out that I perceive as a need. So far I've only seen wants. I don't know if I will ever perceive a new camera as a need but I'm open.

I have all the cameras, lenses and accessories I’ll ever need, which will absolutely do everything I need them to do. So I guess in answer to your question, I’m not looking to purchase gear anytime soon. And if I positively need to purchase any type of gear, it will be a DSLR camera and not a mirrorless model; hope the D500 won’t be discontinued any time soon.

I was hoping for a new body announcement from OMD or OMS this last week. I am interested in the EM1x and wanted to see if an upgraded model would be announced. I am also considering a purchase of the 300 mm f4 Pro lens.

I give it another couple of months before making a final decision.

You or anyone else will be happier and worry free putting GAS aside. There is nothing like been happy with what you have.

Nothing on the horizon for me, planning on selling gear with no plans to upgrade or replace for the time being. Saving money for a new iMac, my 2013 model has been rebooting randomly and it drops the connections to the peripherals.

I'm still exploring what I currently own and need to master that before I'd consider going any farther into the sport.

I need to learn editing and improve my existing library before I purchasing another piece of gear. I love what I have and I want for nothing else and that's all the power I need to enjoy it all.

Celebrate what you have and don't worry about what you don't.......you'll be a lot happier in the end.

Try “the delivery driver must have had the wrong address!” It only works saying “she followed me home” when you’re talking about a puppy.

Honestly, some of the new gear can do things the older stuff could not. Without question, the studious and artistic photographer can create images that many of us can only dream about, and all while using more primitive gear. However, a camera with IBIS and lens stabilization can sometimes lead to images that older gear cannot achieve. High pixel counts can make larger images, or acceptable images from small cutouts that are not available from low count cameras. RAW files can SOMETIMES lead to PPd images that are unreachable with jpg stuff. Doesn’t massively higher ISO sensors with low noise improve the variety of images available?

One of the best parts of stabilization has been the diminished need for a tripod! I never knew a serious film photographer who could get along without one, and I find I still need my tripods when I shoot film.

Just as a surveyor works faster and more accurately with a laser than with older sight based equipment, just as a cabinet maker words faster and more accurately with a power saw and planer and sander than with hand tools, so the photographer can ease and improve their work with more capable tools. Do you know a machinist that works without CNC machine tools?

Yes, the job can be done well with older stuff, but I choose to learn to use the best that I can afford, and I believe my images show the improvement! So will yours, if you take the time and effort to use it from a technical standpoint, but you can never forget light and composition and being in the right place at the right time!

I'm at a crossroads with my gear. I'm waiting for the Lumix GH6 to be released. If it has enough new features, I'll get it. Otherwise, I'll probably get a GH5 Mark II, introduced this year. I'm also waiting to see whether the Lumix G9 will be updated to a G10. I have a place for it on my copy stand...

And after buying my seventh DSLR, I think I can now honestly give my credit card a nice rest; but I know where you’re coming from.

I'm looking at this same scenario over the next few months. We just bought a house in Oregon to be close to our grandaughter and plan to sell our current one in the Spring. I can easily let a lot of the stuff in the house (and garage!) go, but am having real trouble with the 45 years of photo equipment. Children aren't interested, and granddaughter too young.
I suspect it will go to Oregon beneath my wife's radar.
Needles to say, I'm very happy with the equipment I have, especially the D850 and the 70-200 (heavy!) zoom.
(If I could just find a reasonably priced film processing firm, I'd be happy with my Leica M equipment.)

Other than a couple of lens filters and a Hoodman viewer for an Infrared camera, I am very happy with my equipment.

Fortunate to say I have no GAS. haha

I have digital and film gear which does all I want it to do. I’m focussed on just enjoying and having fun with photography.

I have no need for new gear because [A] I already have plenty and [B] I'm 90 and not taking pics like I used to. I have 3/4 bodies and maybe a dozen lens. I carry an extra body (a 5Dc) and a several lens in the leather plumber's bag that I carry for my "traveling gear" - a 50mm, plus a 70-200 f4.0 and a 1.4 extender. Also one 5Dc on my wrist with a 35mm. Harry
