Are you going to get the Z6 or Z6II?

Z6ii. It will fit my needs . Thanks for asking. I read books on both the D850 and the Z6ii. My budgrt is$ 3K so both cameras where within budget. I can get a body and lens for the price of a D850, so I decided on the Z6ii. The Z6ii is about the same size as my F2 and fits in my hand nicely. It was a tough choice, but I believe the Z6ii will be just fine.

Keep it up gang! I saw this post earlier about looking for a new camera, and now 4 hours later, the majority of the replies are probing 'why', with offers to help. Questions probing why a modern technology wonder like the D5600 would be a candidate to be replaced? Of course, the chum did attract a few replies of nothing more than what new camera to buy, preferably full-frame, but still no Z9s.

I did recommend the A1, R3, R5 or Z9. One of those. If you're not going to get one of those then just keep using the D5600. It's a fine camera.

If you're considering this help, let me confirm this is rather more of the problem than anything related to a solution.
I have no need for new gear because [A] I already have plenty and [B] I'm 90 and not taking pics like I used to. Harry
When I was at Ohio State, I was married to the Director of the OSU Dance Company and tool lots of 35mm pics with my F. When I retired that dried up as I left Columbus. Plus I have an even more expensive hobby - I field trial English Pointers and English Cocker Spaniels (two different venues). Been doing the pointers for over 50 years, spaniels for over 15. I can't imagine what would blow my socks off but that's what it would take for me to buy anything. Now a new dog.... :-) Harry

Any answer would be right for the question "Which camera should I buy?". Only the person who asked would know the answer.

I used to buy the so called 'pro' cameras. I had a D1x, D2xs, and D4s. When I started upgrading lenses is when real sticker shock set in. One lens cost more than the three bodies combined. The better lenses made a bigger difference than the bodies.

But since new toys are always fun, while I knew the Z9 was coming, I opted for a Z fc. I can't imagine shooting at the speeds the Z9 is advertising.

I can't afford THAT expensive of a lens. Having said that, my new (used) SAL70200G2 arrived tomorrow and it's still going to set me back at least 6 paychecks. It's my first Sony lens and first G lens and will replace a 70-300 f/4-5.6. My current cameras are fine for now (a77, a99ii). Hopefully it's a worthwhile 'investment.'

I doubt that I will ever replace my 70-300! It was the second lens that I bought after switching to digital from 35mm. The first was an 85mm, the third a 50mm. Now I probably have a dozen, still only use couple or three. Mostly I use a 35mm and a 70-200 f4. Occasionly a 50mm and the aboce mentioned 70-300, sometimes with a 1.4 Ext. Never needed anything longer. I have a 20 (or is it a 24?), hardly ever use it, maybe a few times when I first bought it. Haven't even seen it in months, it's buried in a bag somewhere.

Thing is, my 70-300 has some focus motor issue. It works fine for a while while shooting rapid-fire and an airshow, but then suddenly it will stop focusing on anything and I hear a grindy whiney screechy sound and it stops working. It's probably still fine for stills, though, but I have a full bag of lenses already, along with 2 bodies, a flash,, chargers, etc. Sometimes I think I should have plowed the money into my IRA instead....

I'm waiting for a steal on a Nikon 300mm f2.8 someday. With everyone's DSLR doom and gloom maybe it won't be long.

Otherwise I'm good. I have found 2 or 3 lenses that flip a switch in my brain and I'll probably sell the rest.

You should check out the 300 f4 PF. It is really sharp, really light, and loosing only one stop isn't a big deal to me. If you think that 1 stop is worth nearly twice the price, well, it's your money.
