A Gorgeous Sunspot Region

I shot two 1000 frame video sessions of Ol' Sol this afternoon with a QHY 715C astro-cam, Astro-Tech 65EDQ scope, Herschel Prism and Solar Continuum filter on an Evolution mount; one without a PowerMate and one with a 2.5x PowerMate.

Processed the videos in PIPP to select the best 15 frames from each video then manually selected the best of each.

This region is just jumping with CME's and magnetic decoupling. Keep an eye open for Auroras. These sunspots regions are already causing havoc with radio communications on Earth.

Open the Download for the full sized images. Earth has been added for size reference.

Enjoy!

Bwana, that telescope does a HELLUVA lot better than a little Nikon D5600 with a 300mm lens...single photo, 1/800, F13, ISO 100

Your detail of the sun's surface is AMAZING!...yeah, I bet you'll be seeing some big time Aurora's!

Have you done any Aurora photography, to match up with your sunspot photography...
The you can say, "This huge sunspot produced these Aurora Borealis photos".

Kind of a "cause and effect" thing!

Keep em coming! 💪😎👍

And I could go on and on...

As for a correlation between Auroras and solar activity, I don't know if there is much. Some of the best Auroras simply came out of nowhere and a lot of forecast Aurora activity falls flat on its face.
