Amazing Aurora Last Night

A G4 solar storm hit Earth last night with one of the best displays of Aurora I've ever seen! It started out as simply a full sky 'green' display then activity built to a crescendo after midnight.

Click the link below for a few pictures and five time-lapse videos:

Warning: Some the time-lapse videos may cause motion sickness!

A 14mm lens on a full frame camera wasn't wide enough! (Samyang 14mm and Sony A7 III)

Enjoy!

I really liked your time lapse!

But tonight is clear!

Tonight the Aurora forecast is showing the same coverage but with a lot less strength. Not too sure if I can handle two nights sitting in the cold waiting on my camera... I might get interested if the strength starts to show some promise.

You would have seen last night's Aurora (unless you were farther south than New Mexico).

WOW! Spectacular aurora!
Try videoing it also, you will be pleasantly surprised at how well it can be videoed! I have seen one videoed by a cell phone that was excellent.

I've shot video of the Aurora but I don't have the tools to really clean it up my normal standards. I find creating time-lapses far better in this regard.

Beautiful 😍 I’m jealous I was monitoring the aurora forecasts and every time I went out to check I got treated to a profuse display of clouds 😧😧😧
