The quality of the images taken are quite good. Missed a number of opportunities waiting for the camera to come out of sleep mode. Not good for birds in flight or race cars at speed. AF is a bit iffy. Prefer my D500 for those situations. Seems to be more of a deliberative camera where the full frame image quality is useful rather than a carry along camera. I prefer my X-T1 for that. It's always in my kit bag but the jury is still out as to where it might fit in.

If you like your X-T1 you would LOVE your X-T3. Take it from someone who went from FF Nikons to all three of the Fujis XT's.

I've had the Z6 for a while with the 24-70 F/4 and recently added the 14-30 F/4. It's a really nice camera for walking around. The 70-200 will complete the kit for me when it's released. It should all fit in an easy to grab/carry messenger bag.

Bill - those are some beautiful images with great color and detail! How do they compare with those from your other Nikons?

Thanks Bill. I would say the results are about the same as with the DSLRs. Somebody with a more critical eye might have a different opinion.

I have the Z6 together with the 24-70 kit lens and Tamron 70–200 F2.8 G2 and a Tamron 2x teleconverter.

The low light ability of the camera to produce virtually noise free shots is extraordinary even using fairly high ISO’s.

With the teleconverter on the autofocus could sometimes be hit or miss but the latest firmware update has made it really more than acceptable.

The recent firmware update improved the sometimes sluggish auto focus to my satisfaction. The FTZ adapter makes all but my 3 oldest lenses work seamlessly. Having been a Nikon user since the film days it was easy to pick up and use the Z6 pretty quickly.

The first set is with the 14-30

Thanks for the compliment.

I managed them all with just one card slot.

...love mine. Just did a walk through an art museum that had friendly camera rules and was beyond delighted with how the camera performed (most especially using the screen to focus and shoot). After the firmware update have had absolutely no issues with focus. Have started to dabble in video so my experience is limited, but it's really good so far. I own a few Nikons and all have their place, but this is my take-out-the-door camera now. Oh, and the single slot thing doesn't bother me one whit, I know XQD's from my D5/500 bodies and they're bulletproof.

I own a Z7 and it produces the most detailed, color correct photos I have ever seen.

I own a Z7. With the latest firmware update it has very good eye focus. The images are indistinguishable from the D850. It focuses for all practical purposes as fast as the D850 and will do so in lower light. All my Nikon lenses work beautifully. With QXD and soon FX Express ards what's not to love?

Thanks for the report and the demo photos. Beautiful work and the color is outstanding! I will give some credit to the camera for making things easier but it's the nut behind the lens that makes the pictures.

Now I have a real dilemma, buy a Z camera or buy some of the recent Olympus glass for my M43 system? I still shoot with my SLR so keeping the F-lenses makes sense. If I bought a Z I would want Z-mount lenses. I was thinking of transitioning to full M43 for digital and keeping my Nikon lenses for SLR work. Then you posted those beautiful pics. Thanks a lot now I don't know what to do. 😉

If you are happy with both systems and use them both, I would stay with them. Although I can use my F-mount lenses on the Z bodies that is not my intent. For the most part the Z6 with 3 Z lenses will comprise my ready to go/walk around kit. For most of my shooting (meaning birds) I will stick with the heavy stuff on a tripod.

Unless you intend to replace the Olympus, because you are unhappy with it, I would stay put with the 2 systems.

I rented the Z6 for a week with the kit 24-70 lens and FTZ adapter. I liked it a great deal, although I thought the autofocus wasn’t the best, I have a D750. The adapter worked great except for an older macro 105mm that I had to manual focus. Focus peaking worked great although I don’t think you can get a magnified view that some mirrorless cameras have. I am also considering the Sony A7iii, but to keep using my Nikon glass I will need to plunge into world of adapters, Nikon lens appear to be difficult to use with adapters if you want to keep the use autofocus.

Yup very difficult to use with adapters if you want autofocus wtf not my experience

Thank you Bill. It does seem that for me, two (digital) systems makes sense. There is no way I am going to replace the Oly unless it is with another Oly.

I just bought my Z6 several weeks ago after my work camera (Nikon D4s) had an unfortunate accident which necessitated a trip to Nikon repair facilities... Z6 camera produces outstanding images - but there are two very annoying problems with the unit: 1) It eats batteries!!! It is rated at somewhere over 330ish images per battery charge - which is ludicrous for pro use... Fortunately - that rating is way conservative...I have gotten close to 800 images while getting acquainted with the camera's features - using all the functions and buttons to see what they will do.... Nikon is set to release a battery grip for the camera soon - so that should enable up to 2000 images before you need to replace batteries - but I recommend having several spares on hand in the meantime. The most annoying thing is the tendency for this camera to cease functioning when the housing is very hot due to sunny conditions and warm weather. (Which is pretty much all the time in the summer)... This is unacceptible for pro use and should be the first thing Nikon addresses to keep pros interested in this camera (Sony mirrorless cameras had this problem early on and fixed it) One enormous pro on the camera is the video.. I am sorely tempted to get the components of the video package now....
