Nikon now sends all cameras out for repairs. I have been to the Nikon building in New York. They only do pro cameras now. My personal opinion would be to buy another D7200 body. It’ll be cheaper in the long run.

You are so right. I used to go into the city almost daily to do my photos. But with the present mayor and what happened this past years pandemic it has become worse than it was back in the 70s. I won’t go in alone anymore. I hide my camera taking only what I need. I walk like I have a mission. Keep aware of anyone approaching. Never stand on the subways with my back exposed. Always stand away from the tracks. Having a wall or at least a pole behind you so you don’t get pushed. When you find something to photograph make sure you don’t get so absorbed in what you’re doing you lose sight of your property but more importantly your safety. There’s safety in numbers.

Go all the way up to the Cloisters. It is like looking at the world on top of a mountain. The view is spectacular

If you are a senior you can get yourself a senior discount MTA transit card . This will allow you to travel all the 5 boroughs for half price. You can even change the pass to an unlimited ride one for a week at a time. If you’re in Manhattan you won’t need to rent a car as there’s really no place to park that’s even affordable. I’m a city gal. Don’t trust cab drivers. I always get around faster and cheaper with the MTA Oh. Be very careful these days. The city isn’t as safe as it used to be. Conceal your camera equipment as much as possible. Be aware of your surroundings.

Totally agree. I received a Watson battery once as a bonus item with a purchase from b and h. It didn’t hold up for very long. The Nikon batteries last a very long time. I’ve had many of them last for years. The ones I still have that don’t charge all the way I keep as a last resort backup Stick with the Nikon

I brought 2 of my d7000 camera bodies into Melville NY for general cleanings and shutter count which in the past would take about 3days However they proceeded to send them it to authorized service stations and I waited almost 3 weeks then went myself to track them down. I was totally disappointed in their service at the time. If they are retaking over all repairs I would feel more confident in knowing that the actual company is working on them. Small camera stores I feel are struggling because they can’t compete in sales However there could be hope in classes and camera clubs. Who knows. The economy is struggling in all markets.

the 50mm f1/8 is just fine ..it is the go to lens for most photos ..if you go with the 35mm you will find yourself with distorted portraits as it is really more of a wide angle lens..plus it will make people look a bit heavier..and you don't want to do that now do you..lol..

Having owned both, I would not switch my D700 for a D750. For a D810, yes.

i hardly used my d700 until lately and found that it is an outstanding camera..i only started to use it when several other pros wanted to buy it and seemed to want it badly..so with that i decided to work with it more lately..hmmmmm..loving it and now can see why ..even with the 12 pixels it seems to have an amazing quality to the images..i also have the d810..love it ..i use the both of them now exclusively for jobs..i use a d7100 for just fun time..
as for the d750 ..i don't like the swivel view finder ..and i don't think it is as good as the d810 that has far more pixels..

call b and h and have someone help you with the issue..they have never in all the years i have dealt with them given me a hard time on anything...being courteous and friendly toward the representative goes a long way..they bend over backwards to help customers. .i have gone into that store for many many years..never ever saw anyone leave unsatisfied with their customer service.they don't need to be deceptive..their business is so large that it doesn't have to be to make sales...

i am sad that Bill Paxton died also..however i could never understand why people get "devastated" over an actors death if they have never met them or don't know them personally..agreed..everyone is saddened by bad news of anyones death..however put this in perspective ..be saddened of course..i am too..but focus on your loved ones and treasure the time with them..Actors are people too ..they are loved by their families and friends ..

i have an idea ..im sure that the brother has other shutterbug friends..why doesn't he ask someone to help be a second shooter..im sure that he can get enough shots to have some decent ones for his sister to be happy with..many people today can't afford pros..and are happy with cell phone shots even..also the sister knows her brother well enough to know his capabilities..so let him give it a whirl..if he is confident enough to try then don't burst his bubble..if you're that worried then why not offer to go yourself..lol..i did weddings years ago..personally i would much rather be the second shooter...lol..

stick with what you know..but the two most often discussed and used are nikon and canon..whatever one you choose you can build from there..over the years i found that i loved nikon the best..and as for tamron lenses ..decide as you go..they are very well made..and their warranty is terrific..

i would say they can still manage to dupe quite a few and i am guessing a ton of tourists..DO NOT BUY from 42nd street photo..it is not reputable at all..stay with B and H photo as your number one choice ..Adorama as your next..i don't know the others so i can't comment on them..

Looking for the response from people who own Tamron zoom lens 16-300 for Nikon.

I have a focusing problem . Developed after a year and AF is "limping" every 20-30 pictures .

Thanks M

i have that same lens with a nikon..after about a year and a half i had the same issue..since there is a 6 year warranty i brought it to Tamron itself since it isn't far from me in NY..they are fast and reliable ..they said that it is a motor problem with that particular lens and they fixed it in only 2 days..works perfect now..i say send it to them and you can even call them directly ..it is a small place that does the work on the premises ..very courteous workers there ..i call them when i need anything like lens caps ..deal with them over the phone and get service fast..try it..you only have to spend the money for the postage..repair is free..
