Probably nothing more than more problems on their foreign assembly lines. When made in Japan, the workers had pride in their work; they represent their company and their country. When made over seas, it's just a job. This is why you are not getting your camera. Ten when you do, wait for the recalls to come pouring in.

As one who has a 12 MP DSLR, but is looking at newer models at higher MP levels (20-30+/-), my concern is the affect that such a move would have on my computer. Its not the latest model, but includes post processing software. None of this is the latest and greatest, but serves my purposes just fine.

I know that a higher MP count has its artistic advantages (and that it might require better glass for sharper pictures), but how would these added MP affect the computer's operation? At what MP level would there be a significant affect on the computer....at what point does it really matter? Not concerned about the time to download (have all the time in the world). Currently have plenty of storage space.

Thanking you in advance for your insight into the question.

When I went from a 10mp camera to a 24mp camera, my 2009 mac mini could not handle the files in a decent amount of time. I would have died from old age or boredom waiting on the computer to instill a change I made in post processing. I had to get a used mac pro to tackle the task. I also had to invest in a 24TB server to store the files. Hopefully it will serve me OK until a lost lost relative leaves me thousands or I die. Going to a 50mp camera, I would think would force a new fast computer and definitely upgrading a simple back up program.

Sharpness is a product of the time the photo was taken. I've seen a cropped photo from a Nikon D100 camera printed to a 20 X 30 (or about that size) printed up in Dury's camera shop in Nashville,Tn of a Tennessee Titans game that couldn't have looked better. And wasn't the D100 a six or eight MP camera? Sharpness and quality are the product of the person shooting a lot more than the gear. And why do we need better lenses; even Nikon's older manual lenses (the better ones) will still be more than a 50MP sensor will need. Film. or most lower ISO ones will still out do digital when it comes to detail. 50Mp may be coming close to that mark of film; won't know until the tests are done. And the claim of it out doing medium format; I'd have to see it to believe it and the sample would have to be from a competent pro who knows how to show the difference between the two.

There is a lot of discussion here about resolution. People think there is no need for more resolution in camera sensors and even if resolution is increased the lenses will be a limiting factor.

But we have only had a few years now with 4K resolution and TV producers are already starting to make 8K television. And the plan for the Olympic games in Japan in just over 2 years from now is to record and broadcast in 8K.

For those who do not know 8K is about 33 megapixels. So I am guessing that all serious camera manufacturers will offer cameras with 8K and 33 megapixel sensors 2-3 years from now. That means not only in full frame cameras, but also Aps-c, m4/3 and 1" cameras and top of the line cameraphones.

What do you think about this?

I think manufacturers will keep making and improving products as long as the "I got to have the latest and greatest at all times and I want it now" crowd keeps buying whatever they make. Instead of keep adding mega pixels (imagine the speed computers and the storage capacities we will need shortly if this continues. Instead of keep adding megapixels, why does not just one manufacturer out there just work on improving the sensors we have now. I'd like to see a 20-25mp camera that can produce a photo taken at 100,0000 that will look like it was taken at 100 ISO. Now that's a camera that would impress me. 50,000mp 35mm cameras that can't go over 1600 ISO in my book is a waste to a versatile photographer.

And they built the damn thing on a tilt too. Maybe they were trying to copy the leaning tower of Pisa?

8 free cleanings???? I have been doing photography for over 50 years now and have never taken a camera or lens to be cleaned by anyone but me. I have been doing sports almost all this time too, in dusty environments and still have not had a problem yet. It all comes down to how you care for your gear and just using a little bit of common sense. Of course this advise comes with the knowledge of knowing that common sense is something that has escaped most people in America for the last 25+ years.

Nikon has pulled the scam of the decade by publishing a list of lenses that will work on the D850. They are all new lenses that are way over priced and loaded with bells and whistles instead of great glass and built to last. Not one older lens (some are not real new but they don't have a replacement for these yet) is on the list and I'll put many of Nikon's older lenses up against these any day. This list is an out right lie and it has caused me to lose all faith in Nikon, for anything they say from here on out. They are indirectly trying to make buyers of the D850 think that if they have any older lenses they won't work on the D850 and that is simply not true. I viewed Steve Perry's review of the D850 and it may be fine in lower ISO's but still falls on the way side in higher ISO settings.

I am bringing this up because it has happened to me multiple times and to be honest I am getting very sick and tired of being treated like a kindergartener from the administration and I'm sure that you all have experienced this at one time or another. The problem is that every once in a while, yahoo puts an email from here in the spam folder instead of the trash when I trash it. After reading a post, I delete it as I'm sure most of you do.

Here's the problem: When yahoo screws up and puts an email in the spam folder, I get punished by the administration like a kindergarten child and get banned for supposedly 10 days; emails are blocked from coming to me. I can spam thousands of emails over the years and nothing ever happens; the same harassment is there the next day; but not this site. It blocks you from continuing on discussions with many topics, cutting you off from the reason we are here. To add to the mess, I have to email the admin to put me back on so I can get the emails; which takes him several days to do this too and then can take days before they start coming in. My latest tantrum (now you know why I have not responded for the last two weeks) was instilled on me October 20. I got the email back from admin yesterday and as of this writing (11/8/17 at 11:11am, I still have not had a single email come in yet. I am now at 19 days and still having the tantrum imposed on me. This is not right and maybe it's time we as a group address this issue and have this childish practice stopped. And don' come back and say it's yahoo doing it, because it's not. It's clear that when thousands of emails that are spam, are marked as spam, and yahoo does nothing about it, that it is not yahoo doing this and by going into the spam folder and removing the email from spam, also does no good. It is clear that this tantrum comes form the administration of this forum and no where else.

How many others have been treated like a preschooler here and how many are tired of it? If i don't respond right away to your remarks, it's only because the tantrum has still been instowed on me.

Why in the world would you spend X number of dollars on a camera and then turn around and make it deliver like the quality of a camera that is worth way less.

Adobe does it again, updated software that does not work. I would not recommend anyone updating until Adobe gets it together. Seems a normal with them with updates. All those millions extorted from people all over ht globe and they still can't get it right.
