A few shots with my Sony A77 11, I love this camera.

I also love my A 77 but need to master the various focusing modes. I just wish the long lenses were a bit cheaper. Very nice set

Happens under my feeder all the time. One or two squirrels and 4 to 8 morning doves. They ignore each other.

Doves are to stupid to notice anything. They build nests of two pieces of pine straw. It is a wonder that they are not extinct!

But they are pretty.

Jerry or 2 Dog, do you get the pro alone or the bundle pro to plug in to PS? I have the CS6. what do you suggest?

I use it stand alone, noplugins. My primary editor is Photoshop elements . I have lightroom but. Quite frankly I don't understand it. I have found that I can do what I need using elements and photomatix. Keep shooting and have fun.

Just getting opinions. I realize I need to remove the power lines. Just wanted to get the overall picture done first

For my eyes it looks a bit over saturated. In the sky. Photoshop elements makes removing things like power lines easy.

What is your opinion on the Photomatix Pro or Photomatix essentials software for a mac? The Pro is $99.00 and essentials is $39.00. Also, can it be used as a plugin for CS6 in photoshop?

I use. Photomax pro extensively even for single images along with elemets together they provide lots of power for little

Money. My avitar includes 9 images merged in photomax pro. Price may be better on amazon

My problem is that I want them to print the image on...lets say, 20 x24 sized paper at 17 x 6 and I will trim the excess off.

Costco will print on 20 x30 for about 5.00 use your editor and make the canvas 20 x 30 center the image then you can trim as wanted easy to do in Photoshop elements

Those purple outlines are called. Chromatic abortion sometimes they are green always use your lens hood in high contrast situations. Take some pics in auto then look at the data on your photo editing software then use these settings in manual to replicate. IMHO a good way to learn.

I have had an opportunity to photograph white egrets but the birds are always too white and tend to have a purple 'glow'. No feather definition. I am fairly new at this and not to sure about how to set up the camera.
Weather: Early AM in a backwater so there is not a lot of direct sun, but not hazy.
Camera Nikon3100
Lens: These were taken with a tripod mounted Vivitar 500mm zoom (cheap lens) and remote trigger. Manual focus and no VR.

This is not the best lens, but I get similar results with a Sigma 70-300mm which has auto focus and VR. I get pretty good results of birds in the back yard - which are a lot closer and not all white - see 2nd upload

I think the most useful filter is the circular polarizing filter great for through glass such as museums. Check them out. On utube. Don't go cheap those do not work

My brother has been trying to do an intervention on me, if you consider accusing me of being a lens addict (8) a real intervention. However, I am taking him seriously, for the first time in my life, and took the first step of my self-imposed 12-step program. I sent back my newly-purchased Tamron 28-300mm lens and ordered a Canon 6D camera. I'm so proud of myself!

I love my tamron 28 270 my favorite walk around lens

I have an A77 and use a Tamron 18-270 as my walk around lens. I am a volunteer at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach VA home of the largest flying collection of antique aircraft. I have problems sometimes focusing on the faster planes like the P-51 and the Corsair. Your focus looks great please share the data

Sony did itself a disservice when it replaced the HVL-F58AM with the HVL-F60M. The HVL-F60M overheats and shuts down on a regular basis when using it in a studio set up with the demands that places on it.
I have the HVL-F60M and am very pleased with it, in conjunction with my A77. I have never experienced overheating problems, but my demands are light compared to a studio setup. The features of this flash are mind boggling and am certainly happy I purchased it over the F58 or the F43. Yes it is expensive but when I trade up to a Sony A99 or whatever the future brings I am confident that I will still be using it. I haven't used the video LED light yet but the reviews all declare it is
competent for close work.
No, it is not for sale!
