My black Nikon FTn was made in 1972 and edges show brass. It is a dinosaur.

I'm contemplating my next camera will be mirrorless. Sony has a6300 in black and chrome. Looks like mine will be black.

I've aways liked the black camera bodies but over time the edges tend to wear leading to "brassing". Most chrome body cameras do not have this issue. What are your preference and why for selecting one over the other? I know that at one time the pro's primarily use black and many non-pro's wanted to look the part.

Our fellow UHH'er, SharpShooter, said "Most nature shooters don't know anything about composition".

Okay fellow nature photographers, what do you say. Is Sharpshooter correct?

I consider myself a shooter of nature (mainly wildlife) and I have degrees in biological sciences and have always tried to think scientifically. I also think I know a bit about composition but when shooting subjects on the move, the last thing on my mind is composition. My goal is to capture the moment as it is (in nature), to reveal the truth, as sharp and as detailed as possible.

Hi JDM,
I am also planning an African safari for 2017. What travel company are you using (Safari Ventures, OAT?)? Have a great trip! Thank you

I got my sport a few months ago and have only used it on birds and critters in my back yard. I am looking at getting an Induro tripod (models git404l or git404xl) before taking it out on the field. Lens was sharp right out of the box and I have not yet tried the usb dock.

Love the dragon fly (I think) shot. I've got to get out with mine soon. Did you hand-hold or use tripod?
