I finally got out in the field for a shoot.

Great lens isn't it and you took some great photographs. It is a beast to carry around, but well worth the effort as the results of the photographs are great. I use a monopod with a head that hold 36lb (the monopod holds 35lb), and sling it over my shoulder to carry it around.

Thanks Bruce. It is indeed a great lens. What's really great is the sharpness of the images with the lens wide open.

Excellent photos! D810 + 600 mm handheld is a lot of gear to get the crisp shots you got. You are obviously a "steadier" guy than I am :).

I love this lens and got it from B&H, I now have the Nikon 200-500mm on order from B&H and will be interested to see how that compares with the Sigma.
