I love this lens and got it from B&H, I now have the Nikon 200-500mm on order from B&H and will be interested to see how that compares with the Sigma.
My friend that I was shooting with also has an order in for this lens, so I'll get to see it first hand.
I'm sure it will produce some excellent images and it's a pound lighter than the Sigma.
May I suggest a Sirui P-424 Carbon 8xm, 4 section Monopod, max load 55lb/25kg and a Sirui Aluminium Tilt Head L-10 for Monopods including Quick Release Plate.

Thanks Hershel. I'll be looking for a good monopod in the near future!
As well as a constant f5.6.

I'm looking at the Sirui line of monopods. I may wind up getting one with feet (P204S).
I got my sport a few months ago and have only used it on birds and critters in my back yard. I am looking at getting an Induro tripod (models git404l or git404xl) before taking it out on the field. Lens was sharp right out of the box and I have not yet tried the usb dock.

Same with mine, no adjustments, sharp right out of the box.
Same with mine and the only thing I use the USB Dock for was to increase focus speed at 600mm for C1.

Great shots! I have the Tamron 150-600 and am impressed with it. It is a beast to carry around the zoo however!

Thank you. It is a handful, but the image quality is worth it.

Interested to see if anyone has used the Sigma 1.4 extender on the Sigma 150-600mm? I'm considering.
Bob,
Love your shots. Maybe you can give me some advise. I have been considering a Tamron 150-600mm. Do you have any opinion with regard to the Sigma vs the Tamron?
Thanks,
Tom
I don't want to talk for Bob, but the question is which Sigma (the Sports model at $2,000 or the Contemporary model just above $1,000)?

Hi Bruce,
Not sure what you are saying. Do you mean that the Tamron is out of the running and I should only be considering one of the Sigma's that you recommended? If so, please tell me why.
Thanks,
Tom

Thanks Tom.
The reasons I went for the Sigma Sport are:
1) Image quality
2) Build quality
3) Sigma's dock system (you don't have to send the lens in for a simple firmware update), and you can make numerous adjustments if necessary.
I don't have the dock system yet, as this lens is sharp right out of the box with my D810, so for now I'm pleased.
I can't really comment on the Tamron, as I haven't used one.
For comparison purposes, you have to compare the Sigma Contemporary Version to the Tamron Contemporary Version.
The Sigma Sport is in a league of it's own.
Here's a comparison of the 3 lenses:

No, No, No, you did not understand me, Sigma has two versions of the 150-600mm one is the Sports version and the other is the Contemporary version. The Contemporary version is close to the Tamron in price while the Sports version is much higher in cost. There are differences between the two versions. Bob did answer your question though and adequately, I just wondered which version of the Sigma you were interested in.
