As you, I am a newbie, eventho I have been shooting since the 60's when I developed my own film and printed photos. You handled the replies well. There are many folks on this site that are so knowledgeable it scares me from posting my admittedly poor shots. And that's not sarcasm by the way. There are others who have heard the same things asked thousands of times and I'm sure are really sick of answering the same questions time and again. They tend to get testy some times and I don't blame them so hold nothing against their sometime "short" replies. And I've noticed a few who never have anything good to say, so why do they even reply? In short, listen to these people who are NOT being jerks. They know of what they speak ....and we all learn so much.

Just had an experience at one of our major box stores. Customer service was talking to a manager and store rep about the fact that a woman had bought a hair dryer, (one of the small cheaper ones) and found two in the box when it was shipped. They were on the phones for at least an hour and it caused them so much trouble that I vowed never to bother a store with that kind of problem. Putting it back would screw up inventory they said. Did not have it resolved when I left store.

I bought a 7dII from them a while back. No warranty papers but in a Canon box. Was missing the wi-fi card which I probably wouldn't use anyway. Went to register it with Canon and got the full warranty. Was scared after reading all the reviews about them though and would not do it again.

Oh crap, coffee all over the computer.

Update; camera arrived in new condition (shutter count 1) with canon charger and battery. Only thing missing from box was wi-fi chip some CD's and warranty papers. Went online to register camera with Canon and got the CarePacPlus warranty free. Wouldn't use the wi-fi chip anyway. I guess I lucked out this time. Never again though with Abe's. Not worth the worry.

I did buy a canon 7D Mark ii from them. It turned out to be new, shutter count 1, and had a Canon battery and charger. I saved $100 from everybody else BUT the wi-fi chip was missing and two of the CD's incl the operating manual. They did pull the bait-&-switch stunt and after reading many other complaints of {not USA} products, I wonder why they carry so much stuff that can't be used in USA when that's where they are selling. My opinion is stay away from them. Not worth the $100.

You're probably right. In which case I will rant madly and my wife will make me sleep in the camper for a week with no food or beer. By the way, they are right there in New Jersey eh. (Insert smiley face here.)

I admit I sometimes screw up royally. The total was 1399 including the heavy duty battery and charger and two day shipping. Still 100 cheaper than I saw elsewhere. Guess I'm a sucker for a hundred but we shall see what happens, I think a case could be brought by the State AG for their tactics, but the contact said "it didn't say USA model".

I found a "real" deal for Memorial Day at Abe's and ordered a Canon 7d mark ii Body only. When my credit card company declined it because of a routine fraud check I received a call from Abe's. While talking to them I asked about the camera and found it was not the USA version and declined the purchase. They then gave me the USA version with fast shipping and the "special" battery and charger package for $100 less then other companies were asking for body alone. We shall see if they deliver. Bait and switch, most definitely as nowhere on the ad did it say import version. And they did not answer my question submitted on their website about that issue. Beware, call them or better yet buy elsewhere.
