I am leaning towards Cameta for refurbished d810. Abe's listed a new camera for $200 less

Bought from Abe's a few years back. Had a problem with the camera and they exchanged it promptly. Again, this was a few years back.

Keep leaning. Cameta will give you a one year warranty on that refurb, I don't know anyone else that does.

I bought a refurbed 7100 from them with no problems at all.

Nikon, like many other manufacturers, puts their refurbed items out to picked retailers to sell their returned items. I am somewhat hesitant here as most manufacturers required their retailers to price the items according to a list.

I would ask who did the refurbishing and if it wasn't Nikon, I would pass.

I would go with Cameta also, for the reasons stated by Mike D. I have purchased several refurbished items from them, and had no problems what so ever.

I don't care what others post on this, if you want satisfaction go with B&H or the Nikonusa.com site.

"I don't care what others post on this ..." That's little harsh, don't you think? There are several stores that are good to deal with
and will stand behind what they sell ... not just B&H or Nikon. Personally, I use Cameta Camera.

Abe's used to be very good - when it was in Maine. It's changed location and ownership several times. Forget about it.

Adorama, Amazon, B&H, Cameta, Crutchfield, Hunt’s, and Robert’s - and probably others - are all good sellers of new gear. If you like to save on sales tax, consider an out-of-state seller.

Nikon, Adorama, B&H, or KEH for used also consider a factory refurbished

Several years ago I purchased a D80 from Abes. It had spot on the sensor that I could not remove with a blower. They replaced the camera with a new sealed unit and took care of all the shipping.

I have purchased four cameras from Cameta, three of them refurbs. They have given me excellent service over a number of years. In fact they are my preferred goto.

Avoid Abe's like the plague. They're a pure bait-and-switch operation. Do a search about them for additional comments here on UHH.
