I do not like the mirrorless because I have a lot of Nikon lenses that I can’t use on them Also I believe the 850 is a workhorse and also easier on batteries

Hi -- I use a mirrorless (Z6 and with the relatively inexpensive FTZ ADAPTER between the body and the lens, I get to use ALL my F-mount lenses - many of them - including any automatic lenses for the D series :) Old manual film lenses, plus anything modern, since the Z6 is also a full frame camera...........

While AI is an interesting technology in the world of photos, videos, search engines, advertising, etc. etc., and with a myriad of legal and ethical concerns, it is my belief that there is NO SUCH THING as Artificial Intelligence.

I have used AI to produce strange and weird images, and will likely continue to do so...because it's fun!

Before retirement, I was in the IT field for many decades, and back even in the 2000's, the term and delivery of AI was in its infancy. It was the belief then, as now, that AI is produced by humans, humans writing computer programs, and as such takes on the characteristics and leanings of its authors/developers. A computer cannot think, it is just a series of 0's and 1's, created by some human, with a myriad of IF-THEN-ELSE logic. A computer cannot have emotions. When an AI deliverer want his program to react in a certain way, he programs it that way...it is a reflection of the developer. Such it is with AI that has permeated the world today.

While the term and delivery of AI is here to stay, we should always remember that in using AI, we are catering to the whims of the developer(s). We should not assign "intelligence" to a machine that can have no intelligence.
While AI is an interesting technology in the world... (show quote)

Yes - the proofs are your intellectual property. You may choose to retain them, but if you release them, they should be worth a healthy amount - certainly more than the prints.........!
Good luck.......

First he would have to buy all those batteries, and given what he spent on all those cameras, he doesn't have any dough left..............!!!

Yes, sounds lovely, but where is the photo of the edibles? Or the movie of them there being consumed? Just asking for a friend :)

I have a Nikon Z6 and occasionally find that a "heavy" to carry around casually - believe it or not, I also have a D7500 which IS smaller and lighter! But seriously, some of the best pix I ever shot were with an ancient Canon super-compact pocket camera - an "Elph" - only 8mp. Here's one of many I shot in the "Sainte Chapelle" in Paris years ago - obviously this is not meant to be an 11X17 hi def print, but it's fine for what it is!
Cheers

Now listen you young whippersnapper!!!!! :) :)

I'm 85 and having a marvelous time learning LR. I'm sure I don't learn as fast as I did when I was only 75, but I've been exploring the wonders of that sophisticated software and am beyond delighted at how much there is to learn (I do not believe in stopping that process...........)

I hope you have a marvelous and exciting time learning to do all the miraculous processes within that incredible software suite.

Yours,
Yves ( from 35mm to mirrorless since 1952 or so........ and I still have lots of older cameras and love'em as well :)

Thank you much for the detailed answer! Explains why I can't bring them in focus............

No, these lenses are older legacy models I suspect - the so-called adapters are too short I believe and I'm just offering them to any Minolta users who might want them. Nice glass - one is a Fujinon, the other Minolta, both very well made and finished. I toyed with the idea of picking up a Minolta body on the cheap just to have fun but in the end would rather pass them on..... :)

Take care,
Yves

I was given two Minolta-mount lenses (a wide angle and a zoom telephoto) that came from an estate - I use Nikons, so I purchased a "mount adapter" to place on standard "F" style film AND digital Nikon bodies - and I find it is not possible to bring them into focus! As if the adapters were not long enough (most of these type adapters are only about 1/2 cm in width) Are the adapters just junk? They are sold by reputable camera dealers...... so dunno what is wrong. Where would I find correct length adapters - or should I just give the lenses away to a Minolta user??? Thanks for any input - Best wishes, Yves

I have a Z6 and I do not lose a minute's sleep because I'm one generation behind....... Writing advertising copy for "new models" of something is a great way to help make more $$$ for the seller but having been there, done that, I'm happy to let my camera continue to work..... and I don't tell it that it's obsolete. (I still also use my 1946 Leica 35mm and Nikon various 35mm machines LOL) so in the end, no reason to just spend more money.

I have a D7500 for years now, and love it. It is extremely versatile, and with access to the ENORMOUS quantities of Nikon lenses made over many years, some quite inexpensive but terrific. Read Ken Rockwell about it. Sure, if you have money to burn get a full frame Z7-II, or D-850.......... Frankly I use the 7500 as often as I use my Z6. I do NOT exhibit prints mostly larger than 8X 10 and they are crystal clear. I also do 11X17 from time to time with great results; also artistically I often use canvas prints for wall hanging or exhibit, and never had the slightest problem with detail. Sure you can pursue that kind of stuff with a 50 mp camera for a bunch more $$$ but I'm quite pleased with what I have. And frankly I believe in the artistic value of the results more than the engineering innards of what machine took the shot. If you want to work in the engine room, that's your preference, I'm interested in the result rather, even if it's taken with a super-cheap plastic camera purchased in a drug store. If I see a really striking shot I don't ask about the camera......... rather about the fotog's thinking, the conditions, etc. maybe exposure & timing..... anymore than I ask an author what brand/model of typewriter or computer he/she used to write the story/novel/book! (as for the gray market aspect I had no idea someone like B&H with their great rep dealt in gray market... whew)
