Like most other models, they are well made and perform just fine. These have a very good reputation. Whether or not one would be a good match for your uses is challenging to say given what little you have said.

Insect macros and bird photography mostly, apart from the more general "stuff"..
Like my other cameras, I would hope that any decent camera would be OK for whatever I wanted to photograph..?

If you've got nothing to add to my original post then don't bother posting stuff that has nothing whatsoever to do with it...

No doubt the Z-line is a desirable leap forward but since you ask "is it worth it" that brings up the point that the Z6II is 2X the $$ of the somewhat similar Z5.

You ask if its worth it. Clearly, the "it" that you ask about must be whatever a Z6II offers above and beyond a Z5.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ive been happy with the Z6 which was cleared out at the price of a Z5, so Ive not had to decide between the Z5 and Z6II. Clearout deals on the Z6 are long gone so I would surely consider a Z5 if need of another body arises.
$1100, very tempting ?
I own a bunch of Nikon equipment and have no problems to report that would keep me from buying more, so I agree that most name brand cameras are going to give you good service. That said, it all depends on your wants and needs as to which camera you buy. I'm thinking about a full frame body having dipped my toe with a Z50 and find that I like it. So my major observation is this... The Z5 is half the price with very similar specs. The Z5 has two SD card slots which I like instead of one big and one little since I don't care a lot about video. The other point that has me thinking maybe spending extra money on the Z7ii is the transition using all my old lenses, some of which are DX which will drop either the Z5 or the Z6ii to only ten megapixels while the Z7ii is still a healthy 20 megapixels even in DX mode. I can't give you any first hand user advice, but the Z5 gets some real positive reviews and is half the price, so I know which way I'm leaning since I'm a miser. Good luck!
If you want to take a lot of shots in the hopes of getting a good one, I think a Z6 would be a reasonable compromise. I grew up with an Argus C-3, graduated to an Exacta and then a Nikon F and finally a D 7200. If I was going to spend more money on gear it would be for a new lens or two. I have shot a lot of wildlife pictures and never found a need for more than 5fps and never once have I had a subject spooked by the sound of mirror slap.
I shoot a D7200, but I still have my D3100 (bought it in 2011). Still use it and it works like a charm.
You may wish to hold off for a bit as Nikon appears to be on the verge of releasing the Z6iii.
So the picture isn't yours or you borrow a camera to take picture of?
