You will absolutely love Iceland. I was there on business about 10 years ago, and fell in love with the people and the scenery.

My wife and I returned for 10 days back in 2021. Everything you're looking for photo ops, and especially waterfalls galore!

Enjoy the trip!

Have any of you hoggers heard of or have first hand knowledge of conflicts between Windows 11 and Adobe products? What about conflicts between Windows 11 and the usual plugins that we run in Photoshop and Lightroom?

I'm using Windows 11 with both Photoshop and Lightroom, and I've had no issues.

I was having an issue with Affinity Photo on Windows 10 where it wouldn't load at all. Once I upgraded to Win 11, the problem went away.

My only issue with Win 11 is a lag in my Bluetooth audio at the beginning of video playback. It clears up in about 4 seconds.

I've used this lens for my daughter's college soccer and found it to be excellent. I use it with my D850, and have taken thousands of awesome day and night game photos.

I couldn't recommend it any higher. Perhaps not a quick to focus as the Nikkor 300mm f2.8, but more than adequate!

I used a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 Sport to photograph my daughter's college soccer. It worked out really well for me. I would have liked the Nikkor 300mm 2.8, but couldn't justify the cost.

Also used it for friend's kids baseball and football.

Before the Sigma, I used the 70-200 f2.8 and a 1.4 tc. Worked really well, but I wanted more reach with a fast lens, since half her games were night games.

This is great information. I have suffered from hearing loss for many years, since I was in Viet Nam, when I chose not to wear any ear protection while on the flight line.

The high pitch whine of the F4-E engines took quite a toll on my hearing, but I never told anyone about it when I was in the service, cause it didn't really bother me that much. Huge mistake!

Now its a constant "huh; what did you say; can you repeat that," etc.

I was thinking more about the complexity of all the possible compositions she will face. That in itself is pretty daunting for a novice.

She will struggle with that, for sure.

Thanks so much for the many responses. It seems a lot of you like the Sony RX10 IV. I'm less concerned about the price than I am about its usability for them. Neither has done much besides iPhone photos.

I think the next step is to take her to actually get her hands on these cameras to see how she feels about the size and weight.

Thanks again for your time!

My wife and daughter are trekking off to Africa in September for a safari. Unfortunately, I don't know any of the details.

Obviously, she wants to take photos, but would be completely lost with my D850, and changing lens probably isn't in the cards.

I've been looking at some of the bridge camera "superzooms", but I have no idea what would be important to a novice photographer.

Do any of y'all have any ideas or recommendations on where to start? When I look at all the "Best of" lists on the Internet, it seems that they all end up with different camera recommendations.

Most of the posts I found here on bridge cameras were several years old.

The 20mm Gatling gun was an amazing weapon. Electrically primed, you would never hear a single round go off, simply a loud "WHHHRRRRRR" as the barrels rotated and the rounds went off. Seemed as if the rounds were firing simultaneously, when in actuality it was really just firing so fast.

We would sometimes sit on the top of a revetment in the bomb dump and watch them make strafing runs not far of base.

One tough aircraft able to take a lot of punishment and still come home. I was also stationed at DaNang and used to go to the snack bar for Air America at the airport and watch the F4s take off or do fly-boys, sometimes on afterburner. One morning, I saw an F4 pilot eject while the plane was still on the runway (don’t remember whether taking off or landing). The shoot opened - sort of. The pilot was injured, but I understand he survived.

I worked at that snack bar on my day off. Gained a ton of weight, they allowed us to eat whatever we wanted.

In 1970-71, I was stationed in Danang, RVN. I was what they called a BB Stacker (munitions guy) and the bomb dump was located near the end of the runway off to the side of the perimeter road.

I used to love to watch the Phantoms take-off at night with the afterburners glowing. What a sight!

They also had an engine test stand for the F-4's J79 engines located across from the bomb dump, and at night you could see and hear the engines on the stand being run up, and just when it sounded like they were about to explode, they would kick in the afterburner, and you'd be convinced the engine would shoot off that stand like a missile.

Love that plane!
