I'm sorry I did not include the entire fact-based diatribe of email and screenshots to prove my case! I should have known better than to express my experiences. This will be my last ramble and I'll be unsubscribing from this site once I get the enter button! have a nice day

of course, I am just making all of this up...;-); I am an idiot who hasn't a clue as to how shipping works...

the shipping manager's reply is nonsense. They - FedEx have just found the consuming business to have too little profit so they just make excuses. Their tracking site is horrible and never has any information other than where the package seems to be at the time. Amazon, USPS, and UPS all managed to deliver to me with not more than a couple of days delay during the storms...;-)

short story (well, maybe)... my bleeding edge PC's motherboard went paws up a couple of weeks ago. I could not find one locally, so I went to amazon, ordered one, paid a ransom amount for 2-day shipping (third party vendor). five days later still no mobo. anyway, wash rinse, and repeat with two others - another from amazon, the other a big box store, trying to get my system back up. I do have a backup, but it is painfully slow for some of what I do (intensive multimedia and code work). now, two weeks later, still, nothing has been delivered. I have lost money. this has been nothing but a goat rope!

They all used FedEx. Here is my real rub - the lack of communication. I have called the shipper several times to find out something and all it get is someone with an accent I can barely understand telling me that the status is undetermined, due to weather. shipper site keeps repeating that it is stuck in some city (Carlsbad and Ontario) day after day and they have no idea of what is happening. Amazon has refunded my money for one of them. the other (big box with no intelligence in the support dept.) I have done a chargeback against them since they do not even have information about it and I think it is lost. they want me to wait three weeks. the third is actually going to be here in a couple of days now, hopefully.

anyway, I have over $1500 in limbo. My end comment is that I did not create this scenario. I depend upon the reliability of the business sector to do the best they can. it is not like the super-volcano under Yosemite went off. By now most companies have adjusted are doing just fine, or close to it, under the new normal. Some are using the pandemic as an excuse for poor management and adaptation. These are not mom-and-pop operations that are struggling. UPS delivered a package with no problems last week. I'm happy to give a bit of slack under these conditions. but two weeks on 2-day deliveries and no one knows what is going on is not acceptable, pandemic or no.

find a better email provider ;-). Seriously, Gmail is for those who want their data scrubbed and manipulated by Alphabet (Google's parent). Google is the most aggressive and invasive. Suggest you go to something like outlook.com or msn.com, (mine for 10+years). just sayin'

Honestly, like any other hobby one does what one wants with it. For golf, who "needs" more than one set of clubs...lol...

For me it is a hobby but not my primary one so i do not buy more than I use. But i can see why accumulating lenses would be fun to have a choice for variety of shot options.

When i find a situation that calls for a new lens (like i needed a fish-eye recently) I go get one. I try to buy used whenever I can on special or less used lenses. I have five total, one came with the camera, which is pretty worthless so if we are counting useful lenses I have four including the fish-eye. These have worked for me for every situation i have encountered except for an occasional situation where having a 1000 mm would have been nice.

For a hobby, it is never about how much one needs, but how much one wants - or can afford...(ever seen Jay Leno's garage)?
