We see many dire warnings on UHH. The end of DSLRs. The demise of Nikon. Etc. For the most part these warnings come from people who do not use the equipment they are predicting the failure of. For example mirrorless users predicting DSLRs are finished, or Canon/Sony users predicting the collapse of Nikon. It seems the people initiating these posts get perverse enjoyment from seeing other brands have difficulties.

If I have a <brand> camera, and the manufacturer goes away, I'll just use the camera until it breaks and simply replace it with another brand at that time.
I might be disappointed that the brand went away, but that's life.
My stuff is NOT an investment, but simply tools.

Howard Johnson's restaurant went away, as well as Comp USA, Kodak, and a crap load of other companies I liked.
And there will be more to come unfortunately......

Not worried about it.
Can't do anything about is.
Stuff happens.

It is unfortunate that you narcissistic personality should take it like a direct attack on your choice of equipment. the world does not revolve around you and was in not way a personal attack on your fragile ego. Grow up!

Quite true. Another source for these folks is the rumor mill.

Reading other people's stories can give you inspiration and hope and the confidence you can afford a mirrorless camera from Canon.

It's not hard to predict the end of DSLRs. The new mirrorless cameras are much better than DSLR. Now, it may take 20 years for that to happen. And I'm sure there will be some who stick to DSLRs, but the vast majority will switch eventually. Just like the platten harddrives of today will eventually give way to solid state.

Enjoy technology. It's always changing.

Trolling again. I have several quality mirrorless, use them on occasion but much prefer my DSLRS. There is no difference in the photos from one to the other that you can show. It is about vision and capability, not tools. Speaking of that...taking pleasure from the misery of others is called Schadenfreude - not a character trait to be proud of.

I don't get married to my equipment. Yes, I have a favorite,
but we're not married.

We should all regret the demise of any photography company.

Their products have become so good it can be difficult to justify upgrades. At the same time, the quality and convenience of cell phones are shrinking the market for those who want something other than instant/auto satisfaction.

It is the competition that spurs improvements and keeps cost down (relatively speaking).

I made an observation, if my conclusion is incorrect, instead of irrational name calling, present a reasoned argument to dissuade me. Do you even know what equipment I use?
