I purchased a used 2019 BenQ SW2700PT monitor and have had problems trying to calibrate it. The BenQ Pallete Master Elements software is incompatible with these monitors manufactured prior to 2020. BenQ does not have a workaround or another software that will work with the monitor. I use a SpyderXElite to calibrate my MacBook Pro M2, but it does not work on the BenQ either as I cannot get the brightness high enough on the monitor for the calibrator to work -- the calibration always fails.
Have any of you run into this problem? If so how did you address it. I am thinking I am going to have to take the monitor to the Salvation Army and just stick with my MacBook Pro for editing photos. thank you!

I have the PD2720U which is the model for graphic designers. I was having trouble in the beginning with calibration. BenQ's customer service is amazing. We set up a one-on-one video session and they helped me with all of the settings and what to do. I have the x-rite, now Calibrate, Color Checker Display pro. It separates the brightness calibration from the color. I would contact them. I think they will be happy to help you.

I too am a “petite” woman. Five feet tall with children’s sized hands. I never expected the size of my hands to determine which camera I choose, but it did. I agree with all of those who encourage her to go to a camera store to try them. I actually have two systems. I have an Olympus system. OMD EM1 mark ii. It was my first one. I have the Pro lenses. It was a great first step and the optics are great. That said, I was frustrated with the noise in low light and the smaller sensor was a problem in some situations. I also own a full frame Sony A7 R III with a trinity of lenses. I am able to reach the buttons on both easily. I wanted to get the new Canon before I got the Sony system and it was just too big. I found the Fuji uncomfortable. There are many excellent camera systems. I am loving the full frame Sony because I can crop in on an image and end up with a great image that can still be enlarged. Test drive them and evaluate need. Then go with what feels comfortable. It makes a difference. Good luck!

I can’t find 100v in stock anywhere. I wanted one for street photography and Fuji underestimated the demand. People seem to be quite happy with them.

Anyone familiar with or any experience with this vendor? Saw a used Canon 70-200L II IS at an attractive price.

I live in Los Angeles and have purchased photography equipment from them for years. It is quite an impressive store. I go to the one in the "Mid-Wilshire" area. They have other branches. They are very good about matching prices from B&H, who I use as well, and haven't had any problems with. I can say that Samy's is an excellent store and can recommend them. A lot of pros in the area use them. They are the best camera store in LA. Don't hesitate.

I am visiting a photographer friend in Bradenton at the end of March. Thanks for your question. Last time I was there I visited the Dali Museum. If you enjoy interesting architecture it is an interesting building to photograph. Also Selby gardens were lovely.

I had the same problem. I had the My Passport drive set up to use a password for travel protection. I stopped that, it stopped kicking out the drive. I am using a MacBook Pro too. It was so odd and frustrating to have it keep happening. Eventually I also reformatted the drive. That helped too. You just have to make sure you have it fully backed up. Good luck!

Since I am a graphic designer with lots of large files open and working at the same time I really noticed the improvement switching to external SSD, which is where I save my work. When the prices come down more I would love one larger than 4TB. I travel a lot so NAS and other storage systems don’t work for me. It needs to fit in my backpack.

I am using the 4TB version of the new small SanDisk SSD as my primary external for all of my work. The size is amazing. They do run hot. B&H had a fantastic sale on them recently. You might want to see if the price comes down on Prime Day. It has lightened my load when I travel due to the small size. So far, so good. Good luck!

As a graphic designer I can tell you there is a huge paper shortage on printing paper. I suspect they are trying to put a good spin on a decision they may have been forced to make. I am a magazine deigned and we are having a horrible time getting paper. I need to get my hands on a new issue to see the new design.

Interesting and timely. I too recently changed to BBF. When I was out shooting landscape photography and really crafting my shot it was great. No problem. But I do a lot of street and urban photography and recently came back from a city shoot where I threw away about 3/4 of my shots due to lack of focus. I have no time to work on pushing both buttons and getting the shot. It just added more work for my fingers and my brain. I plan to go back to the half shutter push and hope lock on to quicker focus with the push of just one button. Good to know I am not the only one it didn't work for. I think it really depends on what you shot.

I can fit my Olympus OMD-Em1 mkii in my purse with my wallet. The charger can fit in there too. About the same size as a good bridge camera, but with a better sensor. A EM 5 or 10 would work too. I use the 28-200 pro lens. I use a light weight Kipling purse. So the purse weights nothing and has lots of pockets. Good for walking around cities. It doesn't scream "photographer."

I live in Los Angeles, and while I haven't found a good club near me in the San Fernando Valley, during covid a friend suggested that I join the Northern Virginia Photographic Society, which has been on zoom. Located in the DC area, they have weekly meetings. I have learned a lot from their presentations and critiques. I do miss out on the field trips, but I have been able to make some friends from afar. The membership fee is not high. If I could find something like this close by I would love it.

Right. That is why they had a half price sale. But, I agree, I don't think it is much different and with the calibration software you should be okay. I run it in it sRGB mode.

I couldn't either. That is why I got the PD series. Mine was marked down during the holidays. You need to get color calibration software. It seems to run very bright. That is my only complaint.

I have the BenQ PD2720U, which is one of the designer models, and I am very happy with it. I am a graphic designer in addition to being a photographer, but it works very well with my 14" MacBook Pro. I don't know the specs of the model you are looking at. Mine is 4k. It is a matte screen, but not quite as matte as the SW series and doesn't have a hood. BenQ's customer support has been excellent!! I spend hours in LR and PS and Topaz and they all look great.
