I agree with you - the trend is to push people to use storage offsite then that site shuts down. It is a waste of my time to store files and build a collection and then be told I have to download everything and find another place to store it. These people trashing you for stating that you are frustrated with this situation - especially since it is becoming quite common - obviously have nothing better to do than look for people to cut down. This site seems to be full of that type of behavior. All you did was vent a little about a situation that was frustrating to you. Wonder if their standards would apply if someone were to smack down on all their posts with a cold prickly comment. It is easy to shame someone - that can be done with no effort at all. Showing you have character and building someone up does that some effort but it is well worth doing.

Just checked out the links you provided - thank you. This is exactly what I needed. Sometimes a video is good but other times the hard copy is easier for me to learn.

Very nice shots - what lens and settings are you using?

What is the link for the Adobe program manuals downloads?

Thank you for the info and links in your post. I was able to compile all the information from the links down to a double sided typed sheet. There is a lot to absorb but this gives me a solid starting point and I have some time to practice. The links also gave me an explanation as to why each setting was recommended which helped me understand the basic reasoning for each parameter. Thanks again!

I am working on a light painting project and have found a need for a way to wirelessly trigger a speedlight without the camera's help. Basically looking for something that I can hold and be able to push a button to fire a speedlight that is located about 25 feet from the camera. The timing of when the speedlight needs to be triggered will vary as well as the location of the speedlight from shot to shot. Does anyone know of a handhled device that can perform this function?

I have a Canon XTCF-1BRK flash (super low end) and a Photoolex M800C (eTTL speedlight) but I could get another flash if either of these will not work.

Yes. With Nikons you use a menu item to control bracketing. See last paragraph for how it behaves in different modes.

That answers my question. Thank you. My manual told me generally what happens but was curious about the specifics. Thanks again.

I am using a Canon T6 and I just tried this again. I set the camera to P mode and set up exposure compensation ( +2 and -2) and continuous shooting and took 3 shots. One dark - one clean - one light. So in P mode the exp comp does not change? Only the aperture/shutter to make a correct exposure? I am getting 3 pics with different exposure so I am not sure what is happening then. I am trying to understand but obviously I am not getting the whole exp comp thing.

Please bear with me on this question – I am still in the learning curve of things. I am trying to understand exposure compensation. Let’s say you have a “base” scene set for: 1/160 – f/5.6 / 400 in P mode and you want to do an exposure bracketing of 2 stops on each side of that setup. Assuming that you are not using the set of three shots for HDR so you decide to shoot free hand. How do you figure if the shutter speed will crowd the limit of where it is ok to shoot without getting camera shake. I cannot see where there is a place that will tell me what the shutter speed will be on the +2 frame. Since P mode changes shutter speed and/or aperture automatically I do not know which one it will change and by how much – or am I missing something?

Ian - we are all on your side. And we are all waiting for another picture post. Do us all a solid and give it another go. If you are feeling down then take a picture that conveys that emotion so we can all "see" what you are coping with - then a contrasting photo to offset that emotion and post both here. I love photos that pull on the emotional strings. Or if you just need to talk - drop me a message - but don't give up. Never give up.

Just wanted to say hello to you guys …. let you know that tho I have been here for a while and I have posted some work and commented on others, I have basically given up on getting my camera in my hands.
I enjoy coming here and looking at the wonderful examples of creativity, but I just don't feel ANY confidence in my own work any more.
So I guess I am saying... keep posting folks... I enjoy looking.

Iankahler - OK so I might have an idea for you to try. I am new to DSLR photography and overwhelmed by how much there is to learn. These last couple months have been exciting but also intimidating with the learning curve involved and like you I am a little disappointed in the results of my shots but here is the thing - To overcome this disappointment I decided I needed to chabge the my approach to this great hobby. My new approach? Do a Google search for "creative photograph" and look to see what others are doing. When you find a pic that has a theme or type of shot you really like take out your camera and try to duplicate that "type" of shot. This way I can concentrate on one style of pic instead of doing a shotgun effort trying to learn everything at once. With all my effort on one particular style (currently checking out perspective shots) I can concentrate on learning one style but it also gives me inspiration by seeing what others have already done. Look on Google and find something that piques your interest then chase it!

Thanks kenievans - good to know a fellow T6 owner. Do you have any of your pics posted here on UHH? Since you have the exact same camera I have I might pester you occasionally for some information if you don't mind.

Linda - I do not think I could loose the wonder - this adventure reminds me of the feeling I had when I started with computers back in '82. That was also a challenge but the road traveled was a great adventure with a wonderful destination and I believe this one will be too.
