And here is one more link:

It's a reactive solution...but employers are required to provide a safe working environment.

With the extreme hot weather around the country, many employers are refusing to take the increased heat into account where their workers are concerned. Whether it's 70° or 107°, they want to maintain the same working conditions. Breaks, water, fans, and air conditioning aren't negotiable. ‘If we give them breaks, it costs us money’

Lawmakers in many states have been stalling about approving new regulations for hot weather work. Changes in heat regulations have met with strong resistance all around the country. Businesses don't want to make changes, and laws aren't getting passed.

"Germany and Spain set maximum indoor temperatures for workplaces. China has measures to prevent heatstroke in indoor and outdoor workers. But there is no national heat standard in the United States."

I vote for:

Max Cady (Robert Dinero) in Cape Fear

"Counselor. Come out, come out, wherever you are."

"I ain't no white trash piece of sh*t. I'm better than you all. I can out-learn you. I can out-read you. I can out-think you. And I can out-philosophize you. And I'm gonna outlast you. You think a couple whacks to my guts is gonna get me down? It's gonna take a hell of a lot more than that, Counselor, to prove you're better than me."

"Counselor, could you be there?"

I would also put up Gary Oldman for just about any villain he played...especially Stansfield in The Professional and Drexl Spivey in True Romance.

With all the villains listed in this topic...I would have to think if they were all pitted against each other, the character Dr. Hannibal Lecter would come out on top based on his intellect and animal viciousness.

Talk is cheap! You might want to put some more thought into this blustering.
Killing somebody, even a burglar, might, and probably will, cost you more than he will have stolen, and no end of hassles, emotional and legal as well as financial. Even dead men have relatives with lawyers. It doesn't even matter if you were justified legally. It will still be very expensive.

If an intruder is in your house, their intent or what they are capable of doing to you and your family is unknown. I'm sure they didn't call ahead to let you know they will be paying your house a burglary visit...no need to be concerned if you see a scary stranger in your house...they just want your things, not your life. Geez! I suggest, assume the worst. (warning: this is gruesome) https://apnews.com/article/6e2cf31ea1f41854e5550f1ba5538f1e
Talk can get you DEAD! I would suggest if confronted by an intruder in your house 1. Leave as fast as you can if possible, 2. Call the police, 3. If you can't do 1 or 2 then defend yourself and your family like your life depends on it. Do you think you will win a fist fight? Do you think you can win a knife fight? You might have a chance with a gun. I wish Tom (click on the AP link above) had a gun that evening. Maybe he and his wife would be around today for us to enjoy their company. If he shot the intruder and it caused him legal expenses, so be it. I'm positive the community would have chipped to take care of it. That would have been a more favorable outcome than what actually happened. The people in the article are dead because they recognized the intruder and he did not want to go back to jail.

With that being said...I am not a cheerleader for anti-gun or pro-gun. But I do believe you have a right to defend yourself.

Its the 'Quicky Lube' one that has me scratching my head!

I think “Dr. Marchant “ is a play on “Merchant Tires” which used to be an auto repair chain that also did quick lubes. He “saw” the sign for Merchant Tires thinking he was going to his eye doctor—Dr. Marchant. Evidently his eyesight is not that good...

...that’s my theory on it at least.

Not a very good picture technically (so please do not waste effort commenting on that)...but I liked the subject matter. This was taken at Timbuck II in Corolla, NC for those familiar with the area. My understanding is that this is an Osprey...with I-don't-know-what-kind-of-fish. I have seen them hunt for fish in the ocean, but there are also many small ponds in the area stocked with fish. Anyone who knows better, please correct me if needed.

If you are ever in that area...there is a great and easy-to-get-to vantage point at the Timbuck II center to get these kinds of shots. This was taken a few years ago with a Nikon D200 and I do not recall which lens I used.

Thanks! That was really funny.

BTW I think the Dept. of Labor Wage and Hour Division would be doing the inspection and not the IRS. But IRS works better than WHD in the joke...who the hell ever heard of the WHD??

I agree with Jimmy T that PhotoScape is a good easy to use free editor. I use it primarily to crop photos and adjust brightness if needed. Other easy to use features include color, saturation adjustments, adding captions, noise reduction, file size reduction, easy red eye removal, clone tool (to edit out mean people from your photos😆), filter (for example sepia)...and many other easy to use tools.

Good luck!

Don’t forget about post processing. The rule of thirds is your friend. With fast action it is not always possible to compose the capture the exact way you want. I always crop my soccer pictures where the ball or the player’s head or body falls on one of the “third” lines. Also pay attention to the horizon. Generally you want a level horizon so it doesn’t look like the Joker’s hideout in the circa 1966 Batman series. Although occasionally a tilted horizon can add dramatic effect. Look for fences, buildings, goal posts to help you rotate the picture correctly.

Crop, straightening, sharpening and overall improvement via Enhance feature. Some exposure, brightening, darkening, and a little "color management ".

That’s typically the same type of post processing I do. I use the freeware PhotoScape. I like it. It does all the processing you mention. The interface is intuitive (to me at least) and easy to work in. I have not really used other post processing software so can’t comment on that.

These recommendations are based on my trip to Sedona and GC 16 years ago.

Check out Boynton Canyon in Sedona. There is a nice rock formation called Kachina Woman. If you are not up for hiking the trail there, you can get nice shots from the Enchantment Resort (yes, it’s a real place). I would call ahead to be sure you can park there if you are not a guest. I don’t remember if there was any other nearby parking.

Another place to check out is Montezuma Castle (Native American cliff dwellings) nearby Sedona.

If you also play golf, check out the Robert Trent Jones designed Oak Creek Country Club in nearby village of Oak Creek. There are great red rock views from the golf course. Just don’t slow down play if you are taking pictures.

At the Grand Canyon check out Lookout Lodge for some incredible views...then again, anywhere in Grand Canyon has an incredible view.

Have fun!!!

We just got back from Puerto Rico and thanks to some of your suggestions we had a terrific time. We zip-lined. We visited the Rain Forest, the bioluminescent lagoon (which was fabulous) and old San Juan. As I look at these photos I'm realizing that they they don't necessarily exemplify Puerto Rico. They could be anywhere. Oh well, they bring back great memories to me.

I think I remember that Iguana...saw him on the 7th at Rio Mar River Course a few years ago...he's looking good
