They look a bit over processed to me. It is not natural to NOT see a navel in the first image

You’re right, I didn’t notice it until you mentioned it. Something didn’t look right but I didn’t catch it probably due to the way it was processed. Thanks for pointing that out

My wife turned 40 earlier this year. As a way to celebrate her, we marked the event with her posing nude for several images. At her request I cropped both shots for posting here. We had a lot of fun with this, maybe in the future I can share a couple a few more.

Also have a D850, I sold my 24-120 f/4 and bought the non VR 24-70G. Don’t miss the VR and the 24-70 is my favorite lens, it’s amazing and worth every penny.

No offence taken, this thread was just a bit of light hearted fun.

Nothing wrong with having a little fun.

Ok.

It makes sense now...I didn’t know how the Upcoming...category works.

But from Brian M’s post it looks like it doesn’t always work the way it’s supposed to.

It possible all of my previous posts may have have shown up in the upcoming category, but hadn’t noticed until my last. Hopefully as mentioned earlier, they only show up there if you subscribe to the nude photography category.

You posted in the correct category, I’ve noticed at times, these show up in the “upcoming topics”. It happened to me and I thought I made a mistake.

I like 'em both. The size difference is just a trick of the highlights on the roundness of her breast and the foreshortening of her body angle - looks totally fine, don't sweat it. If anything, I'd like to see some more depth of black, but that's just my personal tastes, not fault in the shots.

Thank you for the feedback, appreciate it.

Have you tried shooting through a yellow or orange filter to reduce the extremes of light and dark and even out the contrast?

No, not yet, but will give it a try. Thanks

I agree with the comments that the first one is just too dark.

Regarding your style and comfort level, if I recall you once stated that your partner/model would like to remain somewhat anonymous. Isn't that a bit difficult with your friends who know you? Hiding her face from us strangers seems a bit unnecessary because we would likely never encounter/recognize her anyway. For those that know her face and now know what she is doing in the way of nude modelling, it seems a bit after-the-fact. Just curious how you (both) interpret the situation.

Actually, think it’s me that isn’t comfortable with exposing her face. We’ve only been experimenting with this for a few months. Maybe in the future that may happen.

Brian, I guess I just want you to explain what you meant by that. Are you trying to second guess what "we" like to see or do and shoot to that?
Don't worry, your work will NEVER go backwards, just different.
Shoot what YOU like to shoot and develop that.
SS

SS, My Reference to “we” has to do with my subject as she is my partner so, both of us agree what we’re comfortable posting. I like these types of shots, working to get the lighting/shadows is the challenge. I look for feedback from this forum for thoughts or suggestions as a way for me to improve.
Thank you for your feedback.

I like both, but the second a bit more than the first. The first is just lacking contrast.

Thanks Bob, I would agree with your thoughts on the contrast in the first shot.

These images are more in tune with what we like to do. Better, I would hope than my first post a few months back. We’re just having some fun, but always looking to improve. Before anyone comments, in the second picture, her left breast looks quite a bit larger than the right breast. Not sure if it’s the angle, shadows or combination of both. I can tell you, they not as disproportionate the image may suggest.

Doing "tasteful" artistic nudes was the most difficult thing I tried, you can use/work with almost any model and produce great images, most important are the lighting, poses and background, then props, the fewer the better!!
Try starting with one light, be it flash, constant , or natural. Then add a reflector or second light.Remember each added light can cause problems. Experiment , experiment, experiment.!!!!

Thanks! It’s sooo different than wildlife and landscape photography which have been for me, a work in progress with a different set of variables. Looking to improve over the first sets of pictures posted here

A great many of the photographs in the nude section are very simply photographs of people who are not wearing clothes. The human body is probably the only thing in nature without sharp edges. As such, lighting and shadows can be very subtly and the tonality created by than subtlety can be very visually interesting.

Thank you,I couldn’t agree more with regards to the shadowing and lighting playing a part of the image. For my personal taste, holding back a little leaves more to one’s imagination and possibly more exciting to view.
