As I’ve began viewing this category on nude photography, I’ve been impressed with most of the images posted. As being new to this, looking back the few pictures I’ve posted I realized that I have a lot to learn. Just as I think about posting a new picture, someone posts a great photo or set of pictures that hold me back. I feel Nude Photography maybe more so than other forms, provides the photographer a wide range of compositions to choose from. And, presenting the mood or context of your image can be challenging

Try posting a picture, stand back at a safe distance, study the helpful replies, ignore the odd non constructive criticism and you'll soon learn and improve.

Oh and welcome...

A great many of the photographs in the nude section are very simply photographs of people who are not wearing clothes. The human body is probably the only thing in nature without sharp edges. As such, lighting and shadows can be very subtly and the tonality created by than subtlety can be very visually interesting. There have been only a few that I've seen that take advantage of that, some very recent contributions to the section.

As for holding back posting any photos or yours, don't. You're among mostly friendly folks here.

Thank you,I couldn’t agree more with regards to the shadowing and lighting playing a part of the image. For my personal taste, holding back a little leaves more to one’s imagination and possibly more exciting to view.

Doing "tasteful" artistic nudes was the most difficult thing I tried, you can use/work with almost any model and produce great images, most important are the lighting, poses and background, then props, the fewer the better!!
Try starting with one light, be it flash, constant , or natural. Then add a reflector or second light.Remember each added light can cause problems. Experiment , experiment, experiment.!!!!

Thanks! It’s sooo different than wildlife and landscape photography which have been for me, a work in progress with a different set of variables. Looking to improve over the first sets of pictures posted here

Probably the most incredible nude photographer ever was Ruth Bernhart. All you nude photographers out there Google her and take a lesson in imagery. She was one of the original 64er's, was Ed Weston's girl friend and my teacher.

It's Bernhard and she was a lesbian.
