The rules are very misleading, was told at checkin that photographs were permitted. Once inside was immediately stopped from taking pictures. Told the person that stopped me that I was told at checkin that I could take pictures. He then replied that photography was strictly prohibited inside but could take all the pictures that I wanted to take outside. So I am not sure what the rules really are as I saw other people taking pictures inside and were not stopped.

In Texas we have a lot of porch thief’s, they follow fedex and ups trucks, then in broad daylight they walk up and take the package. They will then sell it for whatever they can get for the item. So it would be possible for someone to get everything, including manuals and accessories. I am not saying that this is the case in this particular offering but it is possible. This used to occur before Christmas, now it happens every day.

Buyer beware, Amazon and E-Bay had them listed higher than Nikon new list price. If I would have not found a new lens, the next step was to buy a refurbished lens from Nikon. But finding the lens new from Berger-Brothers was the best choice.

Talk to Brad Berger at 516-496-1000 or the store website at www.berger-bros.com.

I was looking for a AF-S 70-300 lens that was discontinued and replaced by the AF-P version which would not work on one of my cameras. Checked all of the online websites Amazon, Adorama, B & H etc. with no luck. Checked many Nikon photo shops that had one listed on their website, most did not respond to my request if it was even available, called some shops and they told me that they did not have a chance to update the site and it was out of stock. Rembering seeing references over the years for Berger Brothers in NYS, I contacted them and talked to Brad Berger, he checked and had the lens which I purchased. Being late in the day he sent it priority mail, took it to the post office which I received 2 days later. Everything was as expected, a new Nikon lens with all of the paperwork for the 5 year extended warranty. So if you are in the need for something special, I suggest that you checkout Berger Brothers for real customer service.

Thom’s Comment on the lens “fly by wire” is what got my attention and led me to ask someone like yourself who had the lens about actual experience. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions.

Great pictures, brings back memories from younger days. Family friend had similar Chris Craft boat that I learned to ski behind.

Sorry for the confusion, I am considering purchasing this lens and have read that the focus ring is not actually connected to the lens but sends signal to camera to move the lens focus. The article that I read also said that if you move the focus ring too fast the focusing of the lens by the camera will lag behind then eventually catch up. That’s what I was wondering when I asked how far you had to move the lens ring to focus.

Thanks for the reply. Have you used the lens in manual mode, if so is it easy to know how far to turn the focus ring because of the camera actually moving the focus and not the focus ring.

Thanks for all of your input. Great info. Still looking for someone that is using the af-p version on the D810. It is a completely different lens than the af-s. Nikon has removed or changed a few items on this lens.

Shipped my Nikon 18-200mm lens to Los Angeles service center to fix focusing issues, They replaced several parts including VR system and zooming mechanism, checked and cleaned. Shipping each way was $15, $199 for repair. 2 week turnaround door to door. Great service.

Thanks for the feedback. I have already updated to the latest 1.14 for the D810 and have checked the Nikon website. I am looking for someone that has the AF-P lens on a D810. The lens is getting good reviews, but lacks some features like no distance indicator on the lens and not sure about the by wire manual focus. Trying to get feedback on these issues. Thanks.
