Hello all, going to Italy mid- March for 2 weeks. What do you think would be the best lenses to take with me. Here are my current lenses; EF 16-35 F2.8, EF 70-200 F4, EF 50 F1.8, RF 100-400 F 5.6-8, and RF 24-105 F4-7.1. Will be mainly shooting the sites of Italy. Thanks in advance.

I went to Florence, Venice, and Rome. I took an Olympus Pro 12-100 F4.0 and a Panasonic 100-400 F 5.6. I used the Panasonic a total of 4 times in 10 days. The rest were with the Olympus, and while it was satisfactory I do wish I had taken something in the range of 12-35 and around F2.8. Would have used it more than the Panasonic as many opportunities are indoors with limited light and no flash allowed or in narrow outdoor spaces. I would leave the Panasonic at home if going again. Hope this helps.

One caveat, if you go to the Valley of the Kings, Cameras are not allowed, however you can use your phone, strange but true.

I just returned from a Viking 10 day cruise of Egypt last Sunday morning. Only restrictions I ran into:

1. The Egyption Museum in both the King Tut and Psusennes I which is close by and almost as impressive. No photos.

2. The Egyptian Military as memtioned . Don't even point your camera in the direction of the military/police.

In all other ventues, include The Valley of the Kings, The Valley of the Queen's. Tut"s tob, Nephrtiti and all Temples photos were allowed, although flash in verboten in most in door venues.

Later this month I get a chance to take the VIA ‘Canadian’ from Toronto Ontario to Vancouver British Columbia.

While the train does not stop for long at any particular place it does have those ‘dome’ cars allowing you to capture some of the scenery as you travel across the country. I will spend time in Vancouver and then on Vancouver island in Victoria.

I could really appreciate some advice on the lenses I should take with me. One lens people suggest is the 12-200 but I do not own that lens. I would consider buying it but stock is such that it would arrive too late for my trip.

Thanks,
Ron

i use the Olympus system. I have thew 12-100 Pro and a Panasonic 100-400. I have luged both with me to Ireland twice, Greece, The Grand Canyon and Maine over the past 3 years. Result: I have used the 12-100 over 90% of the time! Just my experience for what it is worth.

Recently got an OMD-EM1 mk1 with 14-150 4.5 Zuiko .

Where do I start ?

image quality with Raw is more or less JPEG quality , just not ' punchy enough '

I also shoot with a D300s so I'm comparing with that .

I shot with Nikon products for years before going with the OMD-EM1-MK1. I too noticed a difference in "the punch" as you describe it. I called it vividness. If you read the reviews of the time comparison photos reflected this. It was attributed to some type of difference (which my aging brain has long forgotten) in the way the companies produced color at the time. It was, an is , easily addressed in post processing. And yes, the learning curve is steep. For the time, and still for my needs, the camera is excellent. The lens quality is excellent, an focusing was very good for the time. As for "feeling like a toy": it was designed to be lighter in size and weight which, results in it feeling less substantial. My OMD has been to Alaska and five foreign countries as well as normal use here in the states and not one mechanical issue. To me like a case of misplaced expecdtations.

Do you count your camera bag as a Personal item under the seat in front of you ?

Yes. It has been to Ireland (2x), Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Mexico as my personal item with no problem whatsoever. Occasionally it will have to be checked at the gate on regional flights, but other than that no issues.

Grief is typically conceptualized as a reaction to death, though it can occur anytime reality is not what we wanted, hoped for, or expected. Persistent, traumatic grief can cause us to cycle (sometimes quickly) through the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.

You just answered your own question. Almost 6 years ago when returning from Italy my wife inadvertently left 1 apple in her back pack. Now when we go through security or customs I present my ID and am told to have a good trip. My wife has her passport held until they search all she has with her!

When we asked why: she is "in the system. You tried to bring an apple in once!"

Go figure what they do when they find a knife!

I had a Nikon system for years and years. In 2017 I switched to Olympus. Here is the bottom line:

If you print no larger than around 20 x 14 or so, and you do not crop excessively, the Olympus system is wonderful. Over those parameters many of the criticisms of noise , sensor size etc. start to become valid. And be aware that to fully use ALL the functions of the camera there is a steep learning curve. I am more than satisfied with Olympus. The bonus is the Pro lens are as good as it gets.

Photography is part luck (being in the right place at thee right time) and part technical skill, This photo exhibits both. And both involve effort on your part. So just blow it up and put it as a mural on the wall. One of the best photo's I've seen on this site.

You should be trying to install the software onto a new target computer, not trying to copy one 'installation' from one machine to another.

You may be 10 years out of date to get Help from Adobe. A few years ago, they had all their software install files available for licensed customers, that is, customers who created Adobe.com accounts and had their software serial numbers reflected in their profile.

When I go into my own Adobe account today Jan-03, and view my account details and my "Plans and Payments", I can list my registered products. Even today, testing as I write, I can 'download' the two install files related to a Win-32 install for my even older PSE-10 that I use daily, even in 2022. I have these same files saved already to my system from back in 2016 when I transitioned to my current equipment. The file sizes match exactly to what I have saved and installed.

If you have PSE-11 purchased and registered in your Adobe account, you probably can do the same to obtain the install files.

THIS! I just installed Elements 11 on Windows 10 but did it from the disk, not computer to computer. It works fine.

[quote=Flickwet]I have always used Nikons and ...

See and pay attention to what wdross said I to used Nikons for years and made the switch to Olympus in 2017. IF you don't print larger than around 20x12, are not married to Nikon's depth of field, all the differences can be worked around/dealt with in post. I couldn't be more pleased.

I bought a D 50 in 2005.Still working fine. However what will happen is the technology around the camera and post work will improve dramatically. While you will be able to still take acceptable pictures, at some point the struggle to keep the camera's software compatible with all that around it will create GAS! Happened to me in 2018.

[quote=CHG_CANON]Do you buy a sports car to drive to church on Sundays?
Do you buy a treadmill to extend your closet space for hanging cloths?
Do you buy a 1000 watt microwave to pop popcorn?

At my house the answers are:
Yes.
Yes.
and
Yes!

But then my wife makes those decisions!
