I recently acquired a Sony a6700 to replace a Nikon D7500 I destroyed. The new camera is significantly smaller and lighter that the old one. If I choose to use a Sony 200-600 mm lens on the a6700, I'm putting 4.5 lbs on a mount that weighs a lot less. Since the big lens has a tripod foot on a collar, that should not be a problem if I use a monopod or tripod. So far so good. However, I would like to get a good macro lens, and those tend to be big and heavy also. So I wonder, if I put, for example, a 105 mm macro lens on that A6700, can I get a tripod foot, or will I have the a6700 body on a support with the lens hanging off the front? I fear that will bend or otherwise affect the lens mount. Or am I worrying unnecessarily?

If you attach your strap to the lugs on the lens instead of the camera there should be no problem. I've had the 200-600 for 4 or 5 years and use it just about every day; its never pulled the lens mount off a camera.

I only fill the frame if that's the composition I desire.
I never fill the frame for the sake of "filling the frame".

I don’t know if because of my age but I don’t like to read long posts. I‘m 86. I know people like to give a full overview of what they are saying but it’s better to try to condense your thoughts before posting.

And your point is?

Hi Everyone,
I am going on a European cruise mid 2024 and would love your opinions about what to take with me. I want only one lens and body. Here's what I have...

Nikon D700 and D7000

Lenses:
* Tokina 100 2.8
* Nikon 35-70 1.28D
* Tokina 17-35 F4 FX
* Nikon 50 1.8D
* Nikon 18-105 kit
* Tamron 70-300

If I were to take one body and one lens, what would be your choices and why?

Thank you
Joel

Depends on your style of photography and what you want to shoot.

Your big cost when shipping with either of these guys is going to be for your declared value coverage if you decide to "insure" your shipment, not the transportation cost.

If you have a camera floater insurance policy on the piece of equipment, you don't need to buy the any more coverage.

I know I paid more than $3.26 a roll for the same film in 1980 that costs $12.00 a roll today. But I'll take a $12.00 64GB SDXC card over a roll of film, today.

If humans were meant to view videos in portrait, they would have been born with eyes one above the other instead of side-by-side.

I took a look at the image. It is mildly interesting. But I think this result speaks more poorly of the judges involved than it does of the AI or of the image itself. I've pulled way back from entering contests because judges, both through their comments and choices, increasingly seem to be ftom somewhere in outer space.

My thoughts exactly. Makes me wonder if the completion was really so bad.

Of course all the answers you get will be from people who have used both cameras extensively.

"Natural History" published my photo/story of the story of Gosling Sandhill - a little Canada Goose gosling that was adopted by a Sandhill Crane family. This is the only documented case of Sandhills adopting a bird of another genus.
It was published last March, so I'm a little late in posting this!
