I use Aurora HDR as my primary editor and not had any problems with either the 2018 or 2019 editions. I have an IMac 21.5 3.2ghz, 32 gig ram. If I use any other software it is Affinity for focus stacking then imported into Aurora HDR as a jpeg then converted into an HDR and processed. Hope this helps. Buy the software. You’ll like it.
I use Aurora HDR and haven’t looked back. Occasionally I Luminar. Both programs are available from Skylum.
I use both Aurora HRD 2019, and Luminar. Both programs are affordable and have powerful editing capabilities.

I own this lense and have found it easy to use whether on a tripod or hand hold. Plus the sharpness is out standing.
Where can I buy a copy of this book?

Check out Aurora HDR 2019.
I am 66 and have a BFA from the Kanas City Art Institute. After. 3 decade hiatus from photography I am loving having a camera back in my hand. Although I transitioned from analog to digital a camera is a camera. Photography has always been about seeing. Enjoy the journey.
I have a 2017 iMac which recently upgraded myself (for the same reasons you have) 1. I upgraded to 32 gb of ram 2. I put a 1tb SSD drive in it . The difference is amazing, especially after the SSD drive upgrade. A mechanical drive is a bottle neck.
When I was in Vietnam and a novice photographer I shot Exctachrome and learned to process it myself. After that when I was an undergraduate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago I became a ardent student of B&W. I shot Tri-X and developed it in D23. For you AA fans out there you’ll know what it is. For those who don’t learn how to shoot the zone system and use D23 with film. Digital photography is completely different. B&W can be done in the digital world but I have not done any. I have been invested in a colored world which takes a different kind of eye. Both are beautiful. Back to the original question. A properly curated photography exhibition would be predominantly B&W since from 1836 to the 1980’s (this just an opinion) when color started to dominate the Art world. The digital world has taken photography to a new level with PP.

Please be kind I’m an old guy now.
I have been shooting on Antelope Island since January 2018, the project will last until January 2019. The work is predominately landscape. It would be nice to see some dialog on this forum about this discipline. And some examples of others work.
I recently purchased a D-810 and it is a fine piece of equipment. I don't regret it.
2x1tb. One internal and one external.
Don't buy a Harley Davidson to learn how to ride a motorcycle.

When I first started in digital post processing I tried presets. I didn't care for someone else's opinion of my photographs. I haven't used them since and haven't looked back.
I have upgraded to Mojave and have had no problems with any software. But then I use Aroura HDR 2019. Not LR.
