I was commenting on another thread about landscape and had a thought.

Landscape photography is a really big and popular slice of the photography errr... landscape, and yet there does not seem to be a UHH forum dedicated to this form. Does anyone know why? It is not my area but I know a lot of UHH members focus on this discipline.

Has this been considered in the past? I would certainly subscribe, though I am not sufficiently skilled to suggest monitoring such a forum.

What are the thought of the Landscape Photographers here?

I would definitely follow it! I am just getting into shooting manual mode and love to hear all the experienced photographer’s comments and suggestions on this forum. Landscape photography is my main interest. Night skies next.

It doesn’t seem necessary to me; I’m perfectly content wade through the birds to find the landscapes. If I were suggesting a special section, it would be for the birds, no pun intended. (Note that I am not a bird photographer.)

I would subscribe for sure, but I also want a black and white section

The drawback to the specialty forums is in getting their existence known to others. After a certain number have signed up, some topics will appear in the digest but only if you have subscribed to that section (and are viewing the digest while logged in). People who have initial interest may get discouraged by the small numbers of comments they receive compared to Gallery and go back to posting solely there. Brand new users often have no idea there are 30+ sub-forums on UHH!

Since Landscapes and Scenics are what I love most, I'm in your corner on this one, ds.

Landscape seems like it could use it's own section. But instead of also adding a bird section I would combine it with this existing one. Most bird photos would still end up in the Photo Gallery (or the photo discussion section ).
