When this v***s is over, we really need a full investigation into how it came about and what actions worked and what didn't. Every country dealing with this has had successes and failures and these all need to be put on the table to help us understand the issues and how we stop this happening again. It probably started in China, but the evidence so far suggests that it is another example of a set of circumstances coming together to make an existing v***s that causes minimal damage to one species (horseshoe bat) change and come into contact with us where it has proved to have potentially fatal effect. It has happened before in many locations around the world and it will happen again. The one way to stop us having a full and frank multi-national investigation is childish blame games which will instigate cover-ups. This is not a battle between the West and China it is humans versus disease.

For my money, not only do the Chinese need to look at wet markets and how they slaughter animals for consumption, but many countries need to look at factory farming techniques which put many animals in close proximity and create opportunities for rapid v***l t***smission. Overall, we need a long hard look at ourselves to identify where we have got our priorities wrong.

Maybe the Tony Martin case. He actually killed one intruder and injured another and was convicted of manslaughter with the court failing to agree self defence. I think it was taken that he did not have to continue firing once they had started to run away. The injured party, tried to sue him for loss of earnings but this was hard to substantiate as most of his earnings were from crime. Martin countersued and eventually both agreed to leave it. Martin has not lived at his farm since release owing to various death threats made against him.

These things are always judged according to the facts of the case. I think our Marine friend has used justifiable force!
