Maybe the Tony Martin case. He actually killed one intruder and injured another and was convicted of manslaughter with the court failing to agree self defence. I think it was taken that he did not have to continue firing once they had started to run away. The injured party, tried to sue him for loss of earnings but this was hard to substantiate as most of his earnings were from crime. Martin countersued and eventually both agreed to leave it. Martin has not lived at his farm since release owing to various death threats made against him.
These things are always judged according to the facts of the case. I think our Marine friend has used justifiable force!
