All computers have some of the OS in ROM. If, for not other reason, that to boot the system.

That was true at one time, but not anymore. For Windows and most other operating systems, all the OS software is almost always stored completely on a hard drive . The system BIOS (firmware) tells the computer where to look for the OS when booting up, but the BIOS is not part of the OS, it is specific to the motherboard and varies by manufacturer and feature sets. These days none of the OS is actually stored in ROM or even CMOS memory.

FWIW, my work provided HP i7 laptop is still running 32-bit XP-SP3, because I use some legacy enterprise software that was never updated for Vista or Win7. But my home desktop and laptop are both Win 7 and I vastly prefer working on them. Win 7 is faster, much more stable and has much better productivity features than XP.

My employer and I have agreed that when my current laptop is replaced in about 6 months that it will be Win7 (or 8) and if I still need to use that old software it will be on the old laptop that I will keep only for that 1 program.

Still running XP Sp 3 and not looking forward to the hassles of moving to 7 when I build my next machine...

Wait and make the jump directly to Win 8.

It looks like the roots of the original tree are still attached and in the ground? If that's the case, then I guess the new growth is really branches.

Very cool and a good photo!

Don't worry people, next year (if nobody shoots him) he will have much bigger and straight set.

That may be the case, but sometimes a dropped antler on a buck is the result of an congenital deformity and never grows properly upright. If the dropped antler is growing into the head or neck of the deer it's more merciful to shoot him than to left him suffer. And if it is the result of a congenital condition it helps weed it out of the bloodline.

I was just wanted to try what it can do lol what should I do with the other two? Are they alright like this or should I make any adjustments?

Remember, you asked.

It looks like the perspective is skewed or there's some distortion in the first 2 and an orange color cast in all 3. Maybe the color temp or hue is off? In my completely amateur opinion, they are not well composed, either. A green bottle in front of a green plant is not a good choice in this case and IMO.

Also, couldn't you at least spring for the 18 year old for your dad's birthday? ;)

I agree with the pro camera guys and Kit Lens, what you have described sounds like the definition of a white balance problem.

In another thread an individual claimed that men who were drafted into the military were cowards. Out of sheer disgust I did a little research and here's what I found.

Number of Americans who served in World War II; 16.1 million. This includes Army, Army Air Corps, Navy and Marines. It also includes women who served in the WAVES, WACS, etc.

Number of men who were drafted during WWII: 10 million

Quote:
America's armed forces consisted largely of "citizen soldiers",men and women drawn from civilian life. They came from every state in the nation and all economic and social strata. Many were volunteers, but the majority, roughly 10 million, entered the military through the draft. Most draftees were assigned to the army. The other services attracted enough volunteers at first, but eventually their ranks also included draftees.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that 10 million 'cowards' were able to win the largest conflict ever fought. I am also incredibly proud to count a number of those 'cowards' as members of my family and I hope my own service repaid some of the debt that I and all real Americans owe them.
