Photography seems to others to be a cop out for a "real job."
The snarky remarks that clients or a passerby make are so frustrating.
Just wish I could hang over them at their job to propose half baked, unintelligent solutions of how things should be done.

Some art directors have a hard time deciding on vertical or horizontal. The photograph my be used several different ways for different purposes.
In my wedding foray I used a square format and it gave me options if I didn't like the intended vertical or horizontal "crop".
I would love to go Square again.
I'm using the Phase One IQ3 60MP Back now.

Enjoy your time there. Don't stress yourself and family with equipment.
They have a deal where they have photographers that will shoot shots with characters, etc. These photographers look competent, but the end results are not the best. Better than nothing though.

When I was there about 6 months ago, they are starting a renovation program for the chapel. They have to number each tile of glass and panel of the church, so that after cleaning, they can put it back where it belongs.
It will take, I believe 2 years or more, so Check before you go.
Colorado Springs offers SO many beautiful sites and views. Garden of the Gods offers a lot of photo potentials.
Iv'e never had any problems photographing in the chapel, when there is not a service, pre or post 9/11. They will let you know about the chapels below the other chapels.
Park at Welcome Center and do a small hike around to the chapel.
Drink plenty of water, because of the high altitudes and climbing.

After taking photos this time; next time (God willing) I'll leave my camera at home.
The experience is too amazing to enjoy through an eyepiece.
There are generally two types of photos of an eclipse: Scientific and Editorial
I found very few editorial style that showed the true look of an eclipse.
Our eyes are miracles. They adjust for the brightest and darkest areas of a scene to give the perfect look.
Cameras are a tool that only works with our imput to deliver the desired look.
I will use Autofocus, then lock it off to manual. I know what you mean with infinity focus on manual. It seldom works to be tact sharp.

Also consider that you may be asked to do real estate head shots.
If you do, remember that many times you are updating earlier photos that they may have been using for the last 10 or more years.
Aka they are 10+ years older, but they want to look like they did then (not possible).
If possible recommend to a head shot specialist. If you have to do it, then get ready for a lot post retouching to satisfy their vanity.
Can you tell I had a bad experience?

John
