Hi Alvin! I am one of those nutty guys who 'won't quit till I get it right'! I do appreciate you taking the time to indulge this old dude!

My phone has DSLR Controller and many more apps to monitor/test my WIFI and 'yes', my WIFI is 'on' and strong on all my phones and desktop, laptop, pad. I guess you might call me one of those 'belt and suspenders' kinda guy.

Thank you for addressing my problem, but evidently I was not clear about my cameras. None of them have 'built-in' WIFI. The reason for the TP-LINK is to use an 'external' WIFI transmitter for control of my pair of Canon Rebel T2i that do not have built-in WIFI like T6i and above. I did though, follow your suggestion to double check my Android and desktop WIFI.

Thanks for checking in Alvin...I own 2 Canon T2i's and neither have "built-in" WIFI, thus the need for the TP-LINK MR-3040 wifi router ( it's pocket-size, built-in rechargeable battery, etc. ) which hooks up by a proprietary Canon mini-USB cable directly from camera-to-router all of which may then be controlled from an Android smartphone with DSLR Controller-app by Chainfire. Sorry, I wasn't more specific.

Thank you so much for your quick reply, but unfortunately I do not have the T5 and above with 'built-in' WIFI. I intend to use the TP-LINK pocket wifi router model MR3040 with my T2i's for wifi remote of my cameras. Thanks again!

I have struggled to 'frustration-level' for nearly a year to setup this pair for wifi control of my Canon EOS Rebel dslrs with no luck. I thought I was 'computer savvy' until I confronted this tech. Just turned 80 and can't afford to go to Canon T6i, etc. that has built-in wifi. My main goal is backyard bird watching...hummingbirds mainly. Anybody use this combination successfully? Please help!

B & W...I am a semi-retired small band leader (over 50 years active). Being the "leader" also meant buy the bus, buy the sound equipment, service the bus, service the other equipment and be a "father figure" to a few sometimes up to 10 members. All that said, I had to create ALL the promo. Well, it just so happens I took a band shot for posters at similar old structure here in Kansas (rural pop. 11,000) with our limo parked in front. The name of the band was Hard Times. All the players were in bib overalls, ragged T-shirts, etc. I shot it with my 4 x 5 Graphic in B & W. Your shot brought up a happy time in my career. Thanks!

I am taking ALL of this in. When I was buying gear on the "corporate ticket" I used BHPhoto and I think the other was Calumet??? Anyhow, haven't been corporate-employed for more than 20 years, I tend to lean toward Amazon and a few (very few) others of good "photographic" status. I will admit I recently lucked out on that "bad-ass" Minolta motor drive on Ebay and Sunpak 500 series batteries and charger from Samy's Camera: Used & Collectables.

Amen on the "menu" reference. I have still not commanded the entire menu. "Fraid I got lazy after I started doing goofy point-and-shoot stuff just to have to "fix-it-in-post" (my overburdened computer)! Just an "aside"...my younger brother is a retired photojournalist and a "Canon man". Guess it's sometimes better to listen to the "kids" ( he's 72 ).

Duhh on me! Of course a LENS! Will do my homework on that today. Good advice since it has been raining for 48 hours here in Kansas. Maybe I should be prepping my boat too!

Old semi-pro and now fervent hobbyist. I have been fortunate to work (as in PAID!) In all still formats up to 4 X 5 and industrial pro video and Time-Warner Cable locally. Now I still use my trusty Minoltas and TLR's. Just for kicks and snaps, I have been using a Canon Power Shot SD 550 ( a pretty "smart" little point-and-shoot ). I love all the options of this little jewel, but now I am yearning for a "big boy" digital SLR. I am a young senior (76) but making life work with social security and a talented wife. ;) We do a lot of music related things to be able to live fairly well considering the times. All that said I want to make our first purchase a solid camera with a good "rep". All input would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I have been enticing a little red squirrel to pose outside my back window, even named him "Bubba" and of course "Mrs. Bubba". They are the best-fed squirrels in the neighborhood and they get serious about other squirrels encroaching on their territory.
Pix to come!

Could remember where I first saw it (this week), so I quickly went back to get the details for you. Did someone just re-invent the wheel?
