Same two lenses I had been taking but lately have been leaving the EOS home on more minor trips. These are major trips.

We have 2 upcoming trips, Scandinavia by cruise ship plus land extensions (May 2023), Galapagos and Machu Picchu (September 2023) and need camera advise please. We have 2 current model Samsung S22/S23 cameras. EOS70D with a bag full of lenses, Sony RX100VI, OLympus TG-4 (for Galapagos only). The only real question is do I take the EOS70D? I am not a professional photographer and will likely post pictures but not publish them.

We live in the Catskills and good color is spotty at best right now. We were in the Adirondacks. last weekend and there wasn't much there either. I would guess by next weekend color should start getting better but 2 weeks should be ideal in the Adirondacks and 3 weeks in the Catskills. Good color before Columbus day is always iffy.

Thanks so much for all of the advice. So I will take the 10-18 and the 18-200 (my normal go to lens). Get a sling bag from B&H. Yes I have house sitters - our 3 adult children and 6 grands (7-16) all live within 10 minutes. Yes we have an RV that has been out west - pictures of Glacier, Yellowstone, Black Hils, etc. are great. Will be hauling the RV aroung a lot more also.

Smallish camera backpack that I usually use - just fits gear, a larger one that has extra space

Take a tripod? Special filters needed?

I currently have a Canon EOS 70D with a variety of lenses. Gets to be a bit much fpr extensive travel and long days on day trips, lugging it around Europe last summer was not easy. I also have an Olympus Stylus Tough which is great for the beach and snorkeling, but limited for scenery, etc.

We have a trip coming up this Fall that includes a 10 day cruise in the eastern Med starting in Athens, including Israel, ending in Rome where we will stay for several days. I was looking at some mirrorless cameras with decent built in zoom capability that could fit in a pocket. I would rather not carry lenses around.

Suggestions please.

Thanks for all of the comments. I will take my camera, the 18-200 and the 10-18. plus the pocket camera. Eveything else stays home. Sure makes things easier to carry. More space for souvenirs for the grandkids.

I should have listed lenses.
EFS 10-18
EFS 18-55
EFS 18-200 (my normal go to lens)
EF 70-300 USM (was great in Alaska)
and a flash Speedlite 580EX
plus a pocket camera OLympus stylus Tough (takes great shots of grandkids in the pool and snorkeling)
I have a large camera back pack (can also carry jackets, etc), a smaller camera backpack (holds all of above) and an old shoulder bag.
Sounds like the big tripod and monopod stay home.
What should I take?
