When buying a frame with a matte included you must be sure the matte opening is right for your print.
I cut my own mattes thus the openng is always what I need.

Thanks for stopping. I was in Point Place. There are two Eagle nests in the Nature Trail near the yacht clubs. Do you know where that is?

I got a Tamron 150-600mm lens for a Christmas gift. I got it a couple of weeks ago. Have been just playing with it in the house and yard. Today I braved the 26 degree feels like 16 degree weather to try to get some action going. My fingers about fell off from being so cold. The Nature Trail runs along the Maumee River. These pictures were shot all hand held. I tried to get the geese in a smaller flock. But this was the best I could do. They were my first birds in flight with my new lens. They of course were taken at the 600mm. The Hawks were at 600mm and the squirrel was as well. The Eagle.... well I went there looking for them. Saw one of them in the nest. We were on our way out when this Eagle showed. This was at 150mm. I just had time to toss the mittens and just shoot. I knew being hand held I would never be able to zoom closer. But I am happy with these. Beggars can not be choosey.

you mentioned the Maumee river, where on the river did you find the eagle? Was it up around Monroe michigan or were you into Ohio?

You know it's really spring when the yard is full of these guys.

I've had robins around most of the winter. I don't consider it Spring until the Warblers, kinglets and wrens begin to appear.

Dennis. I am now scrutinizing my image, once again, with your information for a Sharp-shinned hawk. Consistent with what you say "my" bird has the blue color, and after your comment, I see, on my bird, horizontal dark-or-black stacked-stripes at the end of his pointed tail. I am assuming its a male from its bright colors. We are now narrowed down to hawk, for sure, but perhaps a Sharp-shinned hawk. Thanks for your information. I have posted below an Internet pic of a Sharped-shinned hawk with "my" hawk. I see dark horizontal tail stripes on both birds.

Thanks for your information.

The depth of the blue color is dependant on the lighting conditions. As you can see yours is a much deeper blue than the second picture you posted.

The coopers hawk is brown in color, has a squared off tail and will have black horizontal stripe on the tail. The shrarp shinned on the other hand has that bluish color and has a pointed tail.

I feel somewhat confident that this photo is a Peregrine Falcon, but would like confirmation from UHH bird experts. Thanks for any who would venture to say one way or the other. Caught this beautiful raptor in my compost pile. Any ideas or confirmations much appreciated.

It appears to me to be a Sharp shinned hawk.

Weather service said your area got 7 inches. We here in Toledo got 7.5 inches. So as you can see you are not alone in this mess.

Anyone care to ID this one? I'm wondering if it's a Sharp-shinned Hawk.

I was wandering through the woods that front a section of the Petaluma River yesterday afternoon and lucked out with this find. Most of my shots were of the back, but I was able to get one profile before he decided to leave.

I've presented two different crops. Which do you prefer?

A sharp shinned has a pointed tail, it could be the red shoulder or perhaps a coopers.

I am trying to edit some pictures from our daughter's wedding and cannot print them in an 8x10 format without cutting off people. I have an older version of Photoshop. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. And I am having color issues with the photo of Sarah's Family

Have you checked your photo size to the paper size. Resize the photo to fit within the confines of the paper size.

Made bone head move Friday by putting my camera with month old Nikkor 24-70 2.8 mounted, into my backpack for a bike ride and photo taking. Long story short, went down on a wet, slippery turn and unfortunately the front of the lens took a hit and broke the UV filter and shoved the edge of the ring into the front of the lens, damaging the lens threads as well. Two very fine scratches on the lens perimeter, and a small bump on the lens barrel where it extends in and out of the zoomed position. Lens seems to be sharp and function as it should, except for a very slight not perfectly smooth extension past the "bump". D7000 is fine. It's on it's way back to Nikon for evaluation and repair. I'm frustrated, for not having it protected in my backpack and won't ever travel again with camera on road bike!!

Question is, anybody have a repair cost estimate? I've decided to seek damage insurance on all my equipment. Insurance companies with good reputation and cost on about $15,000 of stuff?

I sent my 70-300 mm in a just got a call this morning that it's back. Had something to do with the vibration reduction and it would not focus. The cost of the repair was $328.90.
It was sent in on 12/21/13 and back on 2/4/14. They said it would take 6 weeks and they were pretty close.
An additional cost would be the $800.00 I paid for the D5200 since I felt I couldn't be without a camera for that amount of time. I wanted a D7100 but couldn't find one that night. It turns out I'm happy with the D5200. I just don't like the feel of all that plastic but it take very good pictures.

I doubt that you've been using the D300 for 11 years as it's production was only announced in August of 2007.

You are right, it was the Olympus I purchased the day after I retired then came the d300.
Thank you so much for correcting me!

I think overall, the D300 is a much better camera, but if it is kicking on its last leg and you just need a new camera, the D7100 is a mighty fine camera to have! (Sorry, probably not of much help, since I'm a Canon shooter).

I also think the d300 is the best camera I've ever owned and now after about 11 years of using it I just sent it in for repair. However it's not the camera that needs repair but the nikkor 70 to 300 mm lens that's the problem.

So not having a backup camera other than a point and shoot and being told it would take 6 to 8 weeks for the repair I went out and bought a nikon d5200 and felt I made a mistake but now after using it for a few days and reading and rereading the manual it's not so bad. No comparision to the d300 but it will do.

I think my biggest problem with the d5200 is getting use to holding a camera that weights less than a feather. I like to feel some weight in my hands. Another problem is the biggest lens I got was a 200mm and that makes a big difference when shooting birds which I do a lot of. My 70 to 300 mm lens will work on the d5200 but it's what was sent to the repair shop.
