Wednesday is Castle day. The day the ship goes by dozens of castles perched high above the river. Use the longest lens you can afford. You’ll also have the opportunity to disembark and walk through one of the castles. Wear shoes that have good anti slip soles. Tons of great photo ops.

This was the highlight of our cruise. Hopefully the weather will be great that day and plan early to get a good seat on the top deck when cruising by these castles and vineyards. Enjoy!

I was on a cruise in Alaska a year ago. I took my Nikon d7200 with a Tamron 10-24 and a Tamron 18-400. I used the 10-24 for only about 20-30 shots. The 18-400 with the "crop sensor" gave me all the reach I needed and some great wildlife photos. I was very happy I went "light" on the trip.

I went last year and only used my Nikon D7200 with the 18-140 lens. Took lots of pics. A whale watching excursion even got close enough even with a large boat for me to get good whale pics. Fir whales I recommend you set rapid repeat shutter and push and hold shutter before whale surfaces. Easy to delete unwanted pics. May only want to save to one card to allow larger buffer.

I have Pixel 2 and it takes the best pics I have seen. Don't know about Google Pixel 3.

I would recommend you not overlook Dogwood Canyon if you like wildlife and waterfalls. The native American museum at Top of the Rock is good. It isn't Branson but close. Wonders if Wildlife Aquarium and Museum next to Bass Pro in Springfield is outstanding.

Just enter long, lat in Google maps. It will convert it or at least give map to that location.

Lots of reasons. I suggest you try the Big Island and take a hello tour. Lots to photograph including active volcano and snow capped mountain.

Maui is nice and Mount Holeakala is great for sunrise and sunset.

Kauai is green and lush.

Oahu is great for brief stop to view Arizona memorial but Honolulu is like about any large city with traffic and people. Oh yes, Waikiki beach and Diamond Head.
You need to go!

Stripe q is also known as RAID 0. It does not mirror so you can use all if the disk storage. It is similar to what most would consider a hard drive. But it can with stripes to multiple drive at once so it can have good performance.

Just Google Stripe q or better use term RAID 0.
RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives

This link is for NAS backup without RAID. It would require two of these NAS drives and the Synology controller/cabinet. I want redundant storage. I don't need the cloud but it might be handy to let family and friends access the pics from anywhere on the Internet. Just wondered if any UHH folks had experience with this WD My Cloud.

I need safe redundant storage for my pics. Don't want to archive them on my computer. Have been seriously considering WD My Could Duo in raid 1 mode as my photo archive. It would be attached to my router so we could backup laptop and desktop documents besides pics. I am considering 8 TB model which would give 4 TB of storage.
Current price is $360. https://www.wd.com/products/personal-cloud-storage/my-cloud-home.html#WDBMUT0080JWT-NESN

Consider buying two hard drives that are in a RAID system. (Redundant Array od Inexpensive Drives). When it stores to disk it writes to both disks. When one drive crashes you have the backup on the other drive. You just replace or repair the crashed drive . Best Buy has an 8TB raid system. For about $325. This gives 4 TB storage.

I would recommend between Kearney and Grand Island. You can get code to them (30 yds) in fields but to get good pictures along the river you need good telephoto lens say 600mm.

Denali school bus windows only open 3 inches if they open at all. I was shooting through glass except for stops.

I went on this Princ... Cruise last year. My D7200 with the 18-140 lens worked well for everything except the land trip to Fairbanks. The ship gies up glacier Bay and gets very close to the glaciers. The ship rotates at least twice . I was able to shoot from balcony and not have to fight the mob. Would not take tripod. Whale excursion from Juneau was fantastic. Take upoer deck and can move side to side. Great Orca shits. When taking the train excursion through White Pass, get in last car. The platform at the end of car is great for shooting pics. Have fun!
