I can't see the joke in no.7. Because I feel pretty sure a fair majority in the current U.K. Conservative would enact this to the letter thereby killing off the homeless - and claiming a victory.

Too true, John.
They've forgotten they're meant to serve the public. They roll from one scam to the next.
Strange that during COVID they could find accommodation for the homeless but now they're back out on the street.
Immigrants are homed, legal or illegals, but others are left homeless.

Very true.
There was a case in London (UK) just a few years ago where a woman was so busy looking down at her phone she walked into the road and a cyclist collided with her. The cyclist was kept in hospital for a few weeks.
The woman SUCCESSFULLY sued the cyclist for damages and left him bankrupt.
Strange how our courts are operated these days!!

Why can't scumbags just accept that they did the deed and plead guilty ? They all seem to think that if they plead not guilty that they will get away with it. It is almost as if you can work out their IQ from their plea. Or in some cases the IQ of their lawyers.

Here in England they are playing the system. They frequently plead not guilty until the morning of their trial. By pleading guilty when they actually appear before the judge they get a lesser sentence than if they pleaded not guilty.
By pleading not guilty up to the trial date they spend more time on remand in custody. The time spent on remand is multiplied by one and one third, or one and one half time to be taken off their sentence as time already served.
As they are so obviously guilty they have thus cut their prison time.

On October 1st of this year, I officially retired. This was on a Sunday. On this same day, my wife and oldest daughter conspired to get me a puppy (like I really wanted a puppy-not). They went to a local rescue shelter and got a purebred German Shepherd puppy. That's a rarity since most shelter dogs seem to have Pit Bull heads.

Anyway, he is 5 months old now and yesterday we took him to the vet for his 2nd set of shots. Then my wife wanted to go to the pet store on the way home to pick up some kitty litter. We took him in with us and my wife got the bright idea to let him pick out a toy. He has plenty already. I should also mention that he has squeak toys. Too me, this is very embarrassing because a German Shepherd with a squeak toy in his mouth? This is hideous.

Well, guess what he picked out? It has a squeaker that sounds like an oinking pig. God help me.
On October 1st of this year, I officially retired.... (show quote)

You know as well as the rest of us he's going to be a very special friend.

However your post reminded me of when my wife and I got back from holiday to find a German Shepherd had been using our yard as a toilet. After we'd been back a few days it got worse, he started bringing his dog with him!!!!!!!

While your printer is printing green it shows the yellow and cyan lines are operating. The problem is in the magenta feed.

Canon Knowledge Base - Deep Print Head Cleaning - TR8520
Select Yes. The printer starts cleaning the print head deeply. Do not perform any other operations until the printer completes the deep cleaning of the print head. This takes about 1 to 2 minutes. The pattern print confirmation screen will appear. Select Yes. The nozzle check pattern will be printed. When the completion message appears, select OK.

Some links to get the Manual and help with cleaning routines. Try to find single cartridge colours for the printer.
I use them frequently for Epson printers. Doing so permits printing from a particular cartridge. Printing a page of that one colour usually forces a blockage in that colour to clear and no ink is wasted as the other colours are not used and until the required colour starts to print no ink is used.

I am Vietnamese and I would think very few of our people think the earth is flat yet in our holidays we make square rice cake to represent the earth and round rice cake to represent the sun. I don't think anyone of us would think of changing that tradition.

Just reminded me of Michael Bentine's "It's A Square World". A BBC comedy series from 1960 t0 1964.
Due to copyright claims I haven't found any episodes available yet.
This link should go to Michael Bentine's "The Great Train Robbery" . Apologies for the advertisements.
Very funny.

When we had a local coffee/ice cream shop, I would occasionally see various kinds of cops in there. As I was leaving one day, I went over to their table and said, "I hope you have a very uneventful day."

Sometimes when I'm at a local supermarket a 'cop' may appear at the next self operated till. I usually lean over and ask the police person to "keep a look out for security while I put stuff in my pockets". They love it! It gives us both a smile and it lets them know we actually realise there's a real person inside their uniform.

"pendulum will eventually find a happy medium" ------ why blame the dismal fortune tellers?

That sounds like a lot of work, but land is less expensive to steal than to buy.

Thank you for the response.
Yes cheaper for the thief. I had a problem where three neighbours built on top of my wall that formed part of my factory. They built up their backyards to form gardens and then went on to build extensions to their houses on top of the extended raised gardens. When the wall collapsed they tried to blame me.
The problem was their insurance companies would 'finance' the rebuild, not pay for it. I realized the insurance companies would have a lien on the houses making sure they got their money back. Thus when I would win my claim in court the neighbours would have nothing for me to claim against and I'd have massive legal fees to pay. I settled for the insurances to pay for the neighbours to build their own wall on their land thus separating the support for their property from my property.
I have since had confirmation I was right about the situation regarding the insurances tying up the houses.
I sold my factory for about a third of its previous value due to the damage the neighbours had caused.
