Has anyone had cataract repair before? How did it effect your making photographs? Would the tri-focal be better than the distance focused lens?

I had both eyes done 8 or 9 years ago. Besides the obvious change to better than 20/20 from 20/600 was a very noticeable change in color. It seems the replaced lens was not only losing clarity, but was taking on a strong tint which was making things appear yellow. I was amazed to see what I thought was green led digits on a microwave were actually blue.

I paid extra for the Crystalens replacements. I am still 20/20 and generally do not need reading glasses. The only time I do is in very low light or with the extremely small print found on some OTC medicine containers.

I mostly use a Nikkor 24-85 F2.8 to F4.
Not quite the Trinity model but it works for me

Good viewing can be had along US 1 between Malabar Rd in Malabar and the bridge over the Sebastian River where you cross from Brevard into Indian River count. The power company has installed many osprey nesting platforms. I often see them feeding fish to their young. Nesting season here is generally December through February. The osprey are resident and can be seen year-round.

Florida Coastal is a dedicated route connecting the ports of Miami and Jacksonville.
Barely 350 miles end to end.
They get real busy during the orange crop season when we can have 4 or 5 trains an hour ALL night long.

I have to cross Florida East Coast Line tracks whenever I leave or return home.
I have to admit I nearly always count cars if I catch the beginning of a train.
Latest record was 110 cars a month or so ago.
Interestingly, the line is the only railroad in the US using liquefied natual gas as a fuel.
The trains have 2 engines with a shortened tank car between them as a fuel tender.

Why would anyone pay premium for a top tier camera and then take the cheap route for something as mundane as the battery?
My advice - stick to the OEM.

I use a SanDisk CF / SD card reader instead of the Nikon utility with my D700.
I find it a lot easier.
I also transfer to several PCs for portability and redundancy.

I take it you are referring to Thursday night.
I live about 40 miles south of Canaveral, right on the Indian River.
Delays are somewhat common.
Its one reason I do not take the drive to get a better vantage point.

The launch Friday night was awesome from my location.
Very clear skies. I was able to watch the rocket using binoculars to a point where it was 80 miles up and 240 miles down range.

I did not take any photos this time as I have quite a few.

Best Buy if I recall.
I have the disks. One for PaintShop and a 2nd for their bonus disk.

I am used to vendors dropping support after a while.
I can live with that.

On the other hand, effectively crippling a product I already paid for would me me furious
if I learned I was not able to reinstall it for some reason.

I am running Paintshop Pro X8 version 18.2.0.61 x64 and have not had any problems.
I went with it mainly because I did not want a subscription product.

Meanwhile, when it starts, I get a popup asking me to upgrade.
I don't think so

Looks like the twin of the Vivitar 400mm I have from when I was a college student in the early 70s.
It took half decent photos when used on my old Nikormat.
Still have both collecting dust.

I just had my 5 year old Sony HDR-CX190 camcorder repaired by PCVR in Enfield CT. They also handle Olympus
The SONY web site directed me to PCVR.
I was very pleased with the fast turnaround and that the repair (a software issue) wound up costing a lot less than the original flat rate estimate.
In addition to correcting my problem, the recorder was thoroughly cleaned.

The D700 is my only camera. It does everything I need it to do. I would be much more inclined to adding an extra lens or two than upgrading to the latest and greatest new body.
