How many on here still use the Nikon D700 as their primary camera?

Mine is gone. I now have a D810. I somewhat regret it. The issue of having to work so hard to get a sharp image is my concern. Lately though the D810 is been endearing me. But as I look at images captured by the D700 I often yearn for the simpler days.

That's an Oldie that came out around 2008. That camera sent shock waves when it was introduced. And expensive too. However, having only 12.1 megapixels, and with the introduction of the D750, 24 megapixels, and D810, 36 megapixels, it is pretty much retired. There is very little demand for the D700, now discontinued. Even for those who want to graduate to full frame from a crop sensor camera. It still is a very capable camera though.

The 700 is no longer my primary camera---but I will not let go of it.

I guess the two dozen they had at that price just flew out the door.

Your avatar of the bat on the blinds reminds me of our return home from vacation one summer. My wife found a dead bat clinking to the inside of a drape. Then she found another, and another, and my son found some. Eventually, we removed over a dozen. It was a dry summer, and they probably came inside looking for water - probably down a chimney. By the way, dead bats don't weigh very much.

I have a D800 and 2 D700's (my backups). I just finished doing photos with the Easter Bunny at a local mall, using one of the D700's tethered to a laptop/Lightroom. It's a great camera!

I was shooting with a D300s and D700 and travelling with lenses mounted on both bodies. It was a wonderful way to get everything I wanted to shoot, BUT too bulky. Reluctantly, i traded both (+ $$) for a D810 which allows me to carry only one body, but much more lens swapping. I like the D810, but there was nothing wrong with what I had before. MP's are very over-rated. One of the best shots I have sold is an 18x24 I shot in Italy with a D70s. And it was a JPG capture!

Stopped using my D700s when I got a pair of D800s. If you have good lenses, the difference is pretty remarkable. You can crop way down and still have enough pixels left to make large prints - something that is hard to do with a 12mp camera.

This is exactly the dilemma I have been thrashing about with. An unused d700...sell it and get a d810 or keep it and start using it. I have been watching these on Ebay for a couple weeks. Low shutter activations that look new are going for $1350 to as high as $1450

O.K., I am a modest guy. Only camera I have is a Canon Powershot SX 60 HS. In my opinion, big improvement compared to the SX 50. Got a very sharp picture with full 600 mm zoom and image stabilizer. Now please tell me its shortcomings.
