I have read about how Fuji digital cameras have built-in film simulations in JPG, allowing a photographer to select, for example, a Velvia-like appearance. Does anyone know, or have, recipes for creating similar simulations in Sony digital cameras? I have the A7CR and A7R4, and they allow me to select a "creative look", such as Vivid, and then to select a wide range of variables in contrast, highlights, shadow, saturation, and sharpness. Of course, this only works in JPG. But since I shoot mostly in JPG, and like playing around witih the Creative Looks, I wonder if there are some recipies for creating specific films looks using those adjustable parameters. I know that I will be getting good advice from my UHH colleagues. I was tasked by my daughter with to recommend a large format printer to buy. She wants a printer with 17" minimum width. She's leaning towards a Canon but I've heard good things from Epson printers.
Although her photo taking abilities, eye and creativity, have long surpassed my own, she still depends on dad for equipment advice and in this case I am delegating this on you. Her camera is a Fuji GFX50R.

I have a couple questions about storage and computers. Please know I’m not technically inclined, have basic understanding, but don’t know some ok many technical terms etc. My computer is 4TB, but I’m closing in on being full!
First, I have moved many of my folders with my raw files onto an external hard drive and I moved them there through LIghtroom. Meaning I plugged in the 5TB external hard drive and while in LR moved them drag and drop, to the hard drive which moved them off my Mac with the LR edits onto the hard drive. This means if I misplace the hard drive or it goes bad all my Raw files and edits are gone.
Is there a way to put them onto another hard drive as well and have the LR edits as a backup? I’m also thinking I would not mind if the files I have moved onto the external hard drive were a different catalogue. LR keeps telling me my catalogue is too big. No I don’t do different catalogues just one. But for the ones that are on the external hard drive I might consider making them a different catalogue, but don’t know how when they are already on the external HD.

Second question I think I will make another post as it is asking for an EASY program to backup to the cloud. I think my IMac backs up to the cloud, but I have no idea how or where to find my photos and does it back up LT edits? Anyway, I know many back up photos to a cloud. Another post…..

For a few days, Quicken has been telling me that it "can't complete the process" of backing up. However, when I look in Backups, I see that the file seems to be backed up. I closed Quicken and restarted, and that solved the problem - temporarily. I got the same "Try again later" message today. I closed Quicken, but it would not start again. I closed everything that was open and did a Restart. That let me start Quicken, but it still says it can't do a backup, although the backup file has today's date. This comes at a bad time because Quicken is about to renew for another year, $60. I'm not looking for a solution - just posting about a persistent problem. I suspect the occasional "improvements" that Intuit makes to Quicken might have something to do with this problem. "If it ain't broke..."

Another thing - It's a good idea to do a Restart occasionally. That literally gives the computer a fresh start. If you do a Shut Down, it saves potential junk and restarts it the next time you boot the computer. Restart gives the computer a clean start. That's why many newly installed programs tell you to Restart - not just shut down and start - after installing a program.
