How did they turn out, and where did you have them done?

I went to SFO over spring break to see my grand niece and took a few tours of the area. I got only ONE decent pic of the Golden Gate Bridge and I's like to get it printed, but if I used my printer, the best I'd be able to do would be 18x4". Googling, I closest match I found was that M-pix has a 5x30 paper print available (don't think it's available in metal), but I didn't check the price and I've never used them before. Opinions/suggestions?

I have used Artmill in Chicago several times. Their quality is outstanding and their turnaround is excellent. I recently had an 11" X 41" ready-to-hang print of a nighttime NYC pano done and I was very happy with the quality.

I think you should do a little more research before making such a silly, uninformed statement.

Starting to look into getting a security system for outside the house since we have been traveling so much lately. My questions for you all are:

1. What type of outdoor system do you have?
2. Would you purchase the same one again?
3. What do you like about the system?
4. What do you NOT like about the system?
5. What app does the system use to send the pics/video to your phone and what is the cost?
6. Does the system have a sensitivity setting? We get a lot of critters running around so not sure how sensitive these systems are and what will trigger them.
7. Does the system have night vision and how good is the video/pictures?

Any other info you can provide about your system would help!

We are thinking 3 or 4 outdoor camera's with a good clear picture and video (so higher resolution would be better). Thinking either solar powered or plugged into power since we are gone 3 weeks or more at a time. Not sure how well battery powered would work.

Thinking 1 on garage pointing down driveway, 1 on house pointing at the barn, 1 on barn pointing at the house and 1 on the house pointing at the pasture - we get a lot of critters running thru here like elk, deer, bear, coyotes, cougars, fox down to turkeys, pheasants and such....so it would be fun to get them on film!

My budget can go up to about $800 if needed but would rather stay around $500.

Thanks
Cindy

Eufy offers an extensive line of indoor and outdoor security cameras. They are available on Amazon.com and from Eufy's website. I have a network of 6 indoor and outdoor cameras, some are a combination of a camera and flood light and some have two-way sound. The cameras are motion activated and sensitive to both IR and white light. The manufacturer provides a very nice application for networking the devices for real-time viewing and review of past events. Since all the cameras have internal encrypted storage, there is no need to pay for an expensive subscription The app allows full control of sensitivity, image quality, and other vital functions.

You will not have any problem staying within your stated budget.

Thank you mwsilvers for your info. I am looking for Canon RF 1.4 extender which was priced lower thank B&H with free S&H and no taxes. I also ran through a lot of customers' comments . Mostly the customers advised to stay away from Unique photo due to their bad customer services and their product quality. The disappointed customers called them "liars" !
I rather pay a little more for the Canon RF 1.4 extender than running the risk of getting headache or wasting my time !

That is not the Unique Photo that I know. Through the years I have purchased numerous items including camera bodies and lenses from them and I have found their sales staff and customer service to be equal to those of the best dealers in NYC.

Quality does not depend on the dealer, it comes from the manufacturer. A new Canon RF 1.4 extender is the same anywhere you purchase it. Whether or not it is grey market is a different matter. If you are shopping for used equipment, the dealer's ability to accurately describe the condition of the item is paramount.

The camera was converted to capture images at a wavelength of 850nm. That is full black and white, see sample images below.

Most IR-converted DSLRs are calibrated for use with a dedicated lens in order to achieve proper focus.
Not wanting to be subject to that limitation, I chose to have the camera calibrated for live view instead of the optical viewfinder. That allowed me the freedom to use almost any EF or EF-S lens. The drawback to using live view outdoors is the camera’s LCD screen can be difficult to view under very bright conditions. The solution to that problem is an LCD viewfinder. That is the device that is attached to the camera in the photos below. It adds some bulk but very little weight. Not only is focusing more accurate in live view because the imaging sensor is used for focusing, but the photographer can also see the effects of any exposure changes in real time. What you see is what you get.

I am selling the camera because I am having a mirrorless camera converted to IR. This is a great opportunity for you to dip your toe into the fantastic world of infrared photography at a fraction of the usual cost.

The camera body and viewer are in excellent working condition with some very minor scratches and signs of use. The top and rear LCD’s are in excellent condition and both have protectors installed. The rear LCD has one “stuck” blue pixel which does not interfere with the performance of the camera.

The Canon 7D camera body with the Sevenoak viewfinder price is $275 + $12.00 shipping to the lower 48 states. Included with the camera body:

• Camera body cap
• Sevenoak SK-VF Pro2 3.0X Viewfinder
• Canon LC-E6 Battery Charger
• Generic battery
• 8 GB CF memory card
• Original camera strap
• USB cable
• EOS 7D manual

Also for sale but only if purchased together with the camera described above is a
Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM lens in excellent condition. It is not a particularly fast lens but the best condition for IR photography is bright sunlight. This lens has excellent IR performance characteristics. Price $135

eBay calls outrageously high shipping charges "fee avoidance" and it's a violation of eBay rules.. The seller pays eBay fees on the sale price, not on the shipping price.

I've noticed this on many photo related sales from Japan. My one purchase from Japan was a Nikon 70-210 f/4-5.6D lens with free shipping. I ended up getting that one for $90 which was a bargain when you consider that lens once sold for over $300 on eBay after Ken Rockwell gave it a glowing review and it obtained cult status.

You are behind the times. eBay has charged fees on the combined price of the item plus shipping for some time now. The only benefit to the seller is if the item is returned and he does not have to refund the price of shipping.

Canon EOS R body and Canon BG E22 Battery Grip. $1050 including shipping to the lower 48 states.

The body and grip are fully functional and in pristine condition. No scratches, dings, or defects of any kind. Low shutter count.

Included in the sale:

Canon EOS R body
Canon BG E22 battery grip
Canon Battery Charger LC-E6
2-Canon LP-E6 batteries
Original Canon R strap
USB cable

The EOS R is a wonderful camera and that is why I own two of them. My first one replaced a 5D mark IV and I never regretted the decision. No need for lens calibration, tack sharp at every focal length, more focus points, faster processor and I could go on. This camera has been my backup and it has a low shutter count.

Payment via check or money order with shipment upon clearing bank.
PayPal or Zelle

I have 1000 -2000 35mm pictures that I want to scan. They are in 5 frame strips and cupped 3/16". I have decided to digitize these with a DSLR w/ macro lens so dof is my problem. I will process them with Negative Lab Pro. The 2 frame holder I have does not straighten them sufficiently to process (Epson's 4990 scanner 35mm film holder and a home made holder that pins the film firmly). I have not bought the Lomography DigitaLIZA. I am looking for recommendations how I can straighten them adequately and quickly. Help.

The cupping of your film or "curl" as it is more commonly referred to is caused by the loss of moisture in the emulsion. When photographic film is stored at a low relative humidity (RH) for an extended period it will curl with the emulsion side in. Some manufacturers' films were more susceptible than others to low RH and will begin to curl almost immediately when the RH dips under 50%.

So how do you solve the problem? You should be able to reduce or eliminate the curl by re-climatizing the film. In other words, exposing it to a high RH for a period of time. You can test this theory by bringing a couple of strips into the bathroom when you take a shower. Typically the RH will reach 99% in a bathroom after the shower has been run for 5-10 minutes. This will work if the film was stored flat in albums or similar conditions. If the film has been in a curled state for a long period of time, the problem may be more difficult but not impossible to solve.
