This photo store in NJ carries several items cheaper than B&H . Could you comment on this location about its reliability ? Thank you in advance,

Have a look at Abe's of Maine if you really want low prices.

I have been a customer of theirs for years. They are authorized dealers for everything they sell. It the best camera store in the state of New Jersey and the closest thing we have to a camera super store like B&H, although it is smaller. They are located in Fairfield, New Jersey with a second location in Philadelphia. There was a very recent thread where someone asked about Unique. Not only were there no negative responses, but everyone, including me, praised the store for it's customer service and reliability.

Your sarcasm may not be understood by some newer posters who don't know you, and might take your suggestion about Abe's as a recommendation. I'm just posting this to make sure that the OP, who is relative newbie here, understands that Abe's is not a recommended dealer.

Thanks because I didn’t get it and would have checked them out.

As an authorized dealer, how would any one store undercut the pricing of the others who all have to sell new equipment at the same price?

I didn't mean to "meanly" send you to a dog like Abe's. It's just that prices are set the same for all new camera equipment from authorized US sellers. Anyone selling for less is selling something questionable, typically grey market. "New" grey market is equipment exactly the same as 'authorized US' equipment, built in the same factory, tested to the same quality standards, but selling at a lower price and without a US warranty. So, if there's a problem that should have been a warranty issue / repair, you're going to have to pay instead, assuming the brand manufacturer will even look at it. Abe's is a notorious grey market seller, so if you were looking at price alone and not support, you'll see Abe's always seems to be the cheapest.

To ANHMYDO1941

Stop It, Paul. That place is a dive! A real dump. Please don’t cajole people into thinking that they can save a bank. They can’t but they may be able to pilot the USS Enterprise NCC 1701D with your insistence.

Let’s just keep Hoggers improving on the abilities and forget stupidities!!

I don't know since I don't know which several products he believed were being priced lower. Perhaps he may be referring to accessories, camera bags, straps, etc. rather than cameras, lenses and such. Accessory item pricing is often not as strictly regulated by American distributors. However, I can definitely say that Unique is a very reputable and a highly respected dealer.

Thank you mwsilvers for your info. I am looking for Canon RF 1.4 extender which was priced lower thank B&H with free S&H and no taxes. I also ran through a lot of customers' comments . Mostly the customers advised to stay away from Unique photo due to their bad customer services and their product quality. The disappointed customers called them "liars" !
I rather pay a little more for the Canon RF 1.4 extender than running the risk of getting headache or wasting my time !

Thank you CHG_CANON for your frank thoughts ! I have been in the photography business for over 40 years . I have bought my gears through B&H, Canon USA, Adorama,Beach Camera, Tri-State, 47th Street, Abe's... but not Unique Photo. I read their customers'comments and realized that this place is not reliable. I will go back to B&H or Canon USA. Again thank you for your comments.

See the link I just posted above yours and again below here. Keep in mind I can also show you websites where B&H gets as little as 3.1 out of 5 stars. For any online reviews there is a tendency for a much higher percentage of unhappy customers to post reviews than happy customers. But, if you read the feedback I provided from other members of UHH you will see the general opinion of Unique here is very high with no complaints. You need to take online reviews with a grain of salt. I am still happily using a microwave I purchased from Costco more than 12 years ago that got and average rating of 2.5 stars out of 5 with reviews stating the units failed after 4 or 5 months. When you read enough negative reviews online over the years you start to see a trend. They often are the result of unreasonable expectations, compatibility issues and user confusion. Order from whoever you would like, but Unique is a high value dealer.

I just checked and Unique and B&H are both charging the same amount for a new Canon RF 1.4 extender, $499.

Unique

B&H

Perhaps your belief that Unique was charging less was due to your looking at an open box unit they are selling for $399.00. Open box products are almost always sold for less than full retail price everywhere.

What other items did you see where Unique was charging less than B&H?

As per the Canon RF 1.4 extender the OP mentioned, it turns out that Unique is charging the same price as B&H for it, $499. Perhaps he confused the Open Box version they are selling for $399. Open Box products may have been used for demos or opened for other purposes and may not have actually been used, but they are generally sold for used prices. I am waiting for him to indicate which other products he believes Unique is undercutting B&H on. In the meantime he is now making negative comments about a very fine company, with no personal negative experience, which will be remembered forever on the internet.
