I'm surprised at the idea of coulrophobia - fear of clowns. I watched a TV show last night that featured a character who was afraid of clowns. That seems to be a rather popular idea on TV and in movies, although I hadn't heard of it till recently. I can understand being afraid of those killer clowns in movies, the ones who are made up to look scary. They're designed to make us afraid, but the smiley circus clowns inspiring fear is hard to understand. Come to think of it, I know a woman who is uncomfortable around clowns.

Of course, any phobia is defined as irrational, like a fear of heights, or cats, or fish, so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on those who suffer from coulrophobia.

Nuns are to me supremely scary and to be avoided. Clowns however are nothing more than an obligation to smile, and for unknown reason.

True or false ?

Actually six errors are present. Four are spelling errors; the fifth is the false assertion itself, and the sixth is that the statement is not a phrase but a sentence instead.

Toss in a 30 year old, recently divorced swimsuit model along with that single malt whiskey and camera with a macro lens and you'll have more fun than a toddler at Chuck E Cheese.

I was doing some real estate photos today and this guy was on site with something of a pompous, know-it-all attitude. I gathered he was some sort of engineer or architect. Sure enough he approached me with the question, "what is your angle of coverage with that lens?". I told him I wasn't sure but guessed it was maybe like 120° since it was a Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 set at 17° (taped zoom ring) on a full frame D750. Well that answer wasn't good enough as he then asked how I arrived at 120°. I didn't give him a clear answer and avoided further contact.

I've looked at the available charts online, but is there a recognized formula to calculate angle of view given basic information for any lens? Just a curiosity and thanks.

It's time to short Dick's Sporting Goods stock. They've lost a lot more than $5 million. I know a lot of sportsmen that refuse to buy there now.

Actually this is a good time to short Trump. Smiles for me at least and for the environment eventually.

Serious OCD: I have a tendency to count things but please don't haul me away after reading this. I used to live in Slidell, LA and worked just south on I-10 in New Orleans. I had the habit of counting guardrail supports and would even slow down to do so on the Twin Span bridge. One day and almost late for work anyway, I found myself counting the concrete slabs that I was driving over. Well, I lost count and drove the remainder of the 5 mile or so span, turned around and headed towards home, followed by doing a repeat drive south on the same bridge so I could get an accurate count. No, I don't remember the result.

Not that I recall. The Brits lost one ship there, the Sheffield I think, it was sunk by a French Exocet missile fired from a plane. The Brits were totally caught unprepared for the attack. Aluminum is never used on ships as it oxidizes rediculousy fast in salt water exposure.

I think it was more than just one. I believe the HMS Antelope was also sunk at some point.

You nailed it my man.

Notice where the bulk of the name-calling is coming from -- for within that is displayed loss of thought and fear of the returning pendulum. This is a shameful time and I for one refuse to denigrate fellow Americans regardless of their victimization and just want to ready myself for all the needed repairs we face during the next administration.

Just a general comment...not directed at anyone in particular. For most of us, photography is a hobby. What we do it with is part of the hobby. It is wearying that every single time that someone mentions a desire to look at something different to do it with, someone else accost the inquirer about why they want to do so.

Come on. It is none of our business. Let it go. (You may sing if you wish.) And in this case, four years is plenty of time that a person might want to try something different. No need for it to provide some magical new capability. Why did you ever want to buy a new car? Was your old one still running fine? How long did that smell last? Did you know ahead of time that it would fade? Did you buy it anyway?

I applied those same questions to my first wife and now realize why I divorced her. And FYI, the current one has better low light capability and a hell of a lot more dynamic range and is much lighter too.

Saw this alligator on a bike ride today. It is fairly large for the neighborhood and I assume this device is a tracker. Does anyone know?

It could be a prayer box.
