Greetings everyone, I have been away for awhile and have returned to ask about this lens. I bought it to pair with my panasonic MFT DC-G9. The reviews were positive so I took the plunge. I was distraught to find that the image quality was pretty bad. The images were soft and when cropped to a reasonable degree degraded even more. The eyes of birds were grainy and awful when I zoomed in 67 or 100% with lightroom. I have a nikon coolpix P900 that vastly out performs this setup and with a vastly smaller sensor (1/2.3) and that is with it zoomed out to a 2000 mm equivalent. I tried avoiding the 800 mm range. I tried a tripod, I tried shooting at speeds of 1/4000 and greater. The OIS is enabled. The lens itself has terrific features but takes crappy images. The zoom barrel is very stiff too.
I tested by buying a kit lens; 12-60 mm panasonic. The images on that one stand up nicely when pixel peeping in lightroom. I think it's the lens. Has anyone else had these problems with this lens or know of anyone else that has? I guess I will be contacting panasonic next. Thanks so much.

Pat

Does the 6DII allow for an exposure off the 0-mark or only at the 0-mark with auto ISO in manual? I recognize now that I failed to describe the process correctly in my earlier comment about the 5DIV where Exposure Compensation also applies to Manual w/ Auto ISO w/ EC. To accomplish exposing to the right (ETTR), it's necessary on my EOS models to have the meter at +1 or higher above the 0-mark.

I don't think EC is available in manual mode on the 6DII, that would be nice to have. If I have to go up or down a stop it will have to be with some combination of shutter speed, aperture and iso. It is a reasonable performer with respect to noise and I figure at 2.8 how bad can things get right?

Thanks everyone, such a great community!

I am going to go manual with auto iso which I just proved that camera supports it. I am watching the iso change according as I meter from darker to bright light in manual mode. It's how I shoot wildlife.

Auto iso

Turned out to be a dry run. Mark Desaulnier is coming tomorrow night, not tonight. Well at least I know right where the location is!

I shoot on manual a lot and do well most of the time but I get the feeling that I'm working too hard sometimes and would like to shoot in Aperture Priority more. I avoid it because I get burned by low shutter speeds sometimes leading to blurry photos. It seems in its effort to compensate for indoor conditions it will go too low on shutter.

I'm using a Canon 6DII and a 70-200 2.8 MIII. I am hoping the fast lens (at 2.8) and auto iso will keep the shutter up past 160. Anything else I should be doing? Exposure compensation fit in here? I am taking photos of a congressman town hall meeting in an elementary school multi use room.

Thanks!

I did some Youtubing and found this. The speelite head goes into this rig that pivots the speedlite up or down and allows pointing the light at the center of the umbrella. It accommodates many modifiers like softboxes and such. Thanks for everyone's input!

I'm using a flash stand with a flash bracket to mount a yongnuo flash and attaching a 30" shoot through umbrella shaft to the flash bracket through the little hole provided on the flash bracket. I am noticing that with this arrangement, the flash is not directed to the center of the umbrella but rather above center and I would prefer that it be centered. Is there a way to do this? Is there an adapter I can mount to the flash or flash bracket?

Thanks,

Pat

I went to a PRCA - Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Rodeo yesterday for some action shots. They were real sticklers about cameras - no lens longer that 6" and lots of other rules that all started with "no"
One person in charge said the whole event is copyrighted, trying to impress upon me that anything I might photograph was copyrighted. They only give photog passes to real phtogs from real journalism orgs. After we explained we we were only using the images for our local club competitions they relaxed a bit.

Can a public event like this be copyrighted?

Well, this is a real shocker. :-)
Now the incentive to switch out of Lightroom / Photoshop has just ratcheted up one big notch. I thought about it and I will have to do more research but finding a bundle of applications that can do all the functions these two integrated applications can do is a tall order

Imports and Digital content management
Raw processing
Non destructive editing
Cloning out objects and distractions
HDR stitching
Pano Stitching
Layers and masks
Assigment of attributes/stars/colors/ratings
Keywording

I hope for the extra 10 buckers, there might be some benefits to to using Lightroom CC (besides the less name confusion). They are tossing in some storage too. (No Thanks, I'm Good.)

Y'all let me know if anyone finds the golden ticket!

You must continue holding the left mouse button down while you hold down the space bar. Get it moved to the correct position and you can release the space bar and continue sizing the circle so long as you don't release the mouse button.

I am now able to move the selection but not to resize it. When I hold down the space bar and try to drag the borders of the selection the whole image moves around. I want to select the entire round object but so far have only selection some of it.

Good morning,

I am following along with a basic photoshop Kelby one video. I am using the elliptical marquee tool on Windows ten to make a circular selection by holding down the shift key.

Adobe Photoshop Version: 20.0.1 20181029.r.41 2018/010/29: 1197484 x64

According to Mr. Kelby, if I goof up the selection I should be able to hold down the space bar and adjust it, move it around and so forth. I can't. Nothing works and the ants just march. The other thing that happens is that the tool is not following my mouse at all. I am working towards the bottom of the screen and the selection I am creating is still linked to the mouse but two inches away from it. Its like the mouse is not synched to the tool.

Thanks in advance!

Pat
Would anyone mind giving me a hand with this?
