C***d is dose sensitive, so logic says masks go some way to lower the dose.
So, if someone with c***d sneezes into your face, the v***s will take hold before your i****e s****m can start to respond.
If you were wearing a proper mask (not just a scarf etc) some of the v***s may get through but your i****e s****m will get to work and have a much better chance of dominating the v***s.

These are the one we use.

Virobloc Medical Masks

HeiQ Viroblock has been tested against SARS-CoV-2, the C****-** causing v***s. The technology begins to work immediately any v***s or bacteria comes into contact with a treated surface, and within minutes has been proven over 99% effective, and within 30 minutes 100%.

Over 99% V***s Deactivation - Effective for 30 Washes - EN 14683 Conformity Certification

ELLE Virobloc Mask's microbial cleanliness far exceeds, & filtration is similar to, the required standards for medical masks N95/FFP2/KN95, which are required by standards EN 14683 & EN 149 to be 95% or above for filtration and 70% or above for microbial cleanliness, and the new mark II exclusively for the NHS is type IIR accredited.

How do you know the US death rate will escalate massively? If you have reliable source data please share it with us.

Stop telling us what to do.

There were not 500 million deaths from the Spanish flu from 1918-1920. The number of deaths is estimated to be between 20 and 50 million. That is less than 10% of your statement.

Please relax and stop the fear mongering.

So, you are looking for things to do. Try starting a campaign to start driving on the right side of the road. That should keep you busy.

It pays to read a post correct, I said 50 million had died not 500 million.
I still wish you well.
I'll return in a week and hope I'm wrong.

Thank you for a voice of reason!
The pandemic is not like the flu, and not like preventable deaths from other causes. It is a potentially lethal process to which no one, not of any age, is immune. Ultimately the disease will likely affect 80% of us, and potentially kill 1-10% of us.

The generation previous to mine, when asked, put their lives on hold and offered up their lives to save the country against a menace.
We, too, can surely make some sacrifice in order to save lives.

Temporarily isolating, offers the best chance to slow the inevitable spread of the virus.
Temporarily foregoing having fun (fishing, attending parties on the beach) is not a great sacrifice.
Temporarily foregoing freedom of assembly, to save lives, is not a great sacrifice.

With freedom comes responsibility. The exercise of freedom needs to be tempered by reason.

Thanks you David for an excellent response.
Slowing the virus down gives the hospitals time to treat patients more effective, already your New York hospitals are struggling to cope.
Your quote "with freedom comes responsibility" says so much.
"Compassion" is another word, we should keep in mind.
Take care.

As of this morning there are 800 deaths in the USA and this is going to escalate massively.
Looking in, it seems very selfish not to isolate. The wife and I are on our 9th day of isolation, it's hard, but we are finding new things to do.
If people are not prepared to give up some freedoms "temporary", more and more will die from this horrible virus.
Loved one dying without anyone holding their hands
Search the net for the dying in Italy's hospitals. It frightened me.
It's not a conspiracy against Trump or anything else, IT'S REAL.
So PLEASE PLEASE isolate before it's too late.
The world has not seen a pandemic such as this since the Spanish flu of 1918-20 when 50 million died.
Take care and stay safe.

Not wanting to get into such a debate,
Can I just say that the sensor on mirrorless cameras are sealed in an air tight water tight film, so it's this what gets dirty not the sensor itself, so is very safe to clean. Many instruction videos on YouTube.

The first thing I would check is the release/focus priority, then set it to focus. Then the shutter will only release when in focus. (unless you want otherwise).

One issue with GIMP is that, as open-source software, its documentation is limited and rather hit-or-miss. On the other hand, as you are a Photoshop user, you might want to take a look at GIMPShop or GIMPhoto, which seek to emulate the Photoshop user interface.

PLEASE PLEASE, DO NOT use GIMPshop.
It was abandoned around 10 years ago and was taken over as a platform for malware and virus's.
Plenty online about it.

BTW GIMP is great.

Have to 2nd @Brian-C.
I've been using both darktable and RawTherapee for over six years, they are so well developed that on most levels they are on par with propriety software.
There's no problems with new cameras being supported.
Any problems can be solved by speaking to one of the Devs or if you have have suggestions, again speak to a Dev.
They are not only free as in money, but all the code is there for you to do with what you want.
If you are a Fuji user, RawTherapee has shown time and again it has the best demosaicing for X-Trans raws

Now, who's going to be the first to say there's no such thing as a free lunch, or LR is only a Starbucks a week(or month)?

Take care,

Keith.

Not really an "issue". Some people want to be able to release the shutter when THEY want to, not when the camera says it is "OK", like every polite camera should allow!

I put 'issue' not 'problem' because it is a choice.(should have used a better word).

Not all newcomers to Fuji know about the shutter priority and on the Fuji forums this has solved many 'missed focus' problems.

Take care.

A known issue in Fuji cameras
In the menu check the Release/Focus priority, (found I think in auto focus menu)
It needs to be set to Focus, otherwise the shutter can be released without focus.

Rawtherapy and UFraw may have windows version. Darktable is a 'lightroom alternative'. I use Linux so not sure of compatibility.

'darktable' is native Linux but has an excellent Mac version.
No windows version.

For those on Mac or Linux 'darktable' is amazing, it does a lot that LR doesn't, such as a variety of masks and blending in nearly all the modules, cloning, perspective control, various noise reduction modules, various demosaic modules and much more, (that's not knocking LR BTW)
http://www.darktable.org/

RawTherapee with the new '5' release is also amazing,
http://rawtherapee.com/blog/documentation

Both are very quick at supporting new cameras.
Both have excellent support.
If anyone mentions there's no such thing as a free lunch, just ignore them.

Give them a try, both are....Free

Take care,

Keith.

FWIW:

WIFI is just wireless ethernet, so if the wifi in the computer either connects to a wifi router somewhere, OR is set in ad hoc mode that allows another device able to connect to it via wireless ethernet then it is susceptible to hacking of the OS.

I would HOPE the person is making use of WIFI as there ONLY connection, so in that respect turning off wifi would in effect cut the cord to the router - IF there is a wired connection then of course the gate is still wide open.

Routers have a powerful firewall included, users should ensure this is turned on.
Plenty of explanations on the web.
