Thanks, I'v been warned about the high temps. I live in Tennessee where the temps have been fluctuating between 90-93... I thought this was bad. The Fort Worth stock yards really look attractive. I would really like to take in a rodeo.

I will have the opportunity to spend a week in Dallas at the end of the month and looking for photo ops. I've been researching the downtown area for skyline and street photography as well as the unique bridges. I also enjoy shooting waterfalls, wildlife, and action events. Wondering if anyone could offer suggestions. I found rodeos in Fort Worth but couldn't determine the camera restrictions. I don't mind driving to locations if necessary... thanks in advance

I’ve been using the Lacie Rugged drives for years and now on a M1 chip MacBook Pro with no issues. You will have to properly format before using. Also whichever drive you choose make sure it has the USB-C connection. The M1 chip Macs doesn’t work well with adapters.

All good responses. I shoot with the Sigma Sport version of the 150-600 mounted on the D850 which is quite heavy handholding. I suggest weighing the benefits with the cost when making your decision.

My grandchildren have allowed me to visit New York City for two weeks as a retirement gift beginning June 20. The trip is primarily for photography in various locations. Following advice from many, I decided not to rent a car which means I'm on foot or using transit or Uber. I enjoy shooting skylines and street photography and open to any suggestions for shooting in safe areas.

In my google searches, I explored Coney Island, Manhattan, Ellis Island, and the Edge observation deck for the aerial look and the various burros. I'm staying in the Financial District, which seems reasonably close to the Brooklyn Bridge, which will hopefully provide views of the skyline. Any other suggestions are most welcome.

I really appreciate any advice or tips anyone can provide.

Nikon on Nikon is the absolute best to go. It will also help with resale.

I have come very close but haven’t yet succumbed. I been looking at Sigma’s recently announced new 70-200. I have Nikon’s version which means I don’t need another. However, I don’t trust myself if the stay at home continues. This is a good time nature macro shots... happy hunting with your new lens.

I have had the opportunity to photograph the downtown area in Nashville on a few occasions but never on New Year's Eve. I will spend several days in the downtown area next week and looking for some tips on the best location for capturing the fireworks that might include as much of the skyline and bridges as possible while staying out of harm's way.

I know New Year's gatherings can get pretty congested and difficult to set up a tripod. This will be my first attempt at fireworks. Also interested in suggestions for other locations during the days leading up to the festive night.

Thanks in advance

I was happy to see this post due to the challenges I've experienced after installing Catalina on both my laptop and desktop. The most concerning are the issues with Lightroom Classic. I have a number of external HD's connected and a large majority of the images in collections and collection sets were not visible. I also spent hours on the phone with Adobe with no solution. I was directed to install the updated version of Catalina, but the rep could not promise that the update would resolve the issues.

I've been watching the post from everyone because I have the D850, D4s, and the D500 but have not yet make side-by-side comparisons like some of you have. The D850 is an outstanding camera, but I have noticed the noise in low light conditions. I put it to the test shooting late night using only street lights as the light source... tolerable, I would even say usable but doesn't appear to be as good in low light conditions as the D4s, or the D500.

I have also used the D850 for sports, birding, and macro. I don't feel I'm losing much with the 850 9fps (with battery grip) vs 11fps with the D4s or the 10fps with the D500. Shooting macro at various distances with the nearly 46mp I was able to crop out 75% of the image and was left with excellent IQ. Of course, the new bells and whistles on the D850 make for more versatile shooting. I love the touch and tilt screen which allowed me to get captures by touching the screen which allowed me to get some fantastic low-to-gound captures in the Smokies without laying on the ground. In each of the high and low areas, I was intentionally shooting in ways that I don't normally shoot in order to put the 850 to the test.

The overall image quality is great on each body, but with the new processor on the D850, I think it's sharper. The other factor that would affect your image quality on either body is the glass you're using. I guess it depends on what you're planning to shoot. I haven't been in the studio with the 850 yet... but I will after Christmas break. I shoot portraits for a K12 school I will be able to evaluate the bodies for portraits.

I think it's a matter of what you're shooting. I would lean towards the D850 simply because of the new technology. In my humble opinion, the purchase of the D4s is not going to advance you much past the D4.
