I will have the opportunity to spend a week in Dallas at the end of the month and looking for photo ops. I've been researching the downtown area for skyline and street photography as well as the unique bridges. I also enjoy shooting waterfalls, wildlife, and action events. Wondering if anyone could offer suggestions. I found rodeos in Fort Worth but couldn't determine the camera restrictions. I don't mind driving to locations if necessary... thanks in advance

The area around the FW rodeo arena is a great area, especially if you can be there in the evening light / dusk.
Thanks, would you happen to know if photography is permitted?

I haven't been inside the arena since I was a little kid growing up in Dallas. I've seen UHH photos from inside, but that was years ago, as well as maybe 10 years since I was last to either Dallas or Ft Worth. It would seem odd to not allow personal cameras, but you might have to call to confirm their policy.
Another suggestion; Los Colinas. Horse statues & a small river or canal running through it. Been a long time since I have been there. Might try googling it.
Correction: Las Colinas, not Los Colinas. Googling will give you pictures & a description of the place as well as the address in Irving, Tx. (A suburb of Dallas. Covers 12,000 acres as a development. Enjoy.

Please plan to exercise care and good judgement. Downtown Dallas, with the exception of a few relatively compact areas, is really not known for its night life. The people and the environment change very quickly and very significantly as night falls. We Texans can be pretty strange people, especially about having our photographs taken by folks we don't know. Travelling in at least a small group is a much better idea than being alone. The Stockyards area of Fort Worth is interesting and relatively safe. A couple of locations that are perhaps not as closely aligned with your stated shooting preferences are the Dallas Arboretum, the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, and the Fort Worth Zoo.
Some other locations to consider are the Trinity River Audubon Center (6500 S Great Trinity Forest Way) and the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney. Both offer the opportunity for unconfined wildlife photography. The Hagerman Wildlife Refuge is located west of Denison (about an hour north)
It has been very hot here, with little or no relief expected over the next couple of weeks, so plan accordingly for that, as well. Evenings have been cooling down very slowly. Today it is still 101 degrees at 7:30.
Welcome. We are glad you are coming...just want to make sure that you are able to return sometime in the future.
BIG thanks to everyone... I now have some sense of direction.
What’s worse than 101 at nite is 87 at 5am today
Downtown has some interesting buildings. Arts district close by. Nasher sculpture center. Perot Museum
Old Red courthouse is pretty building
White Rock lake might have some nice sunsets. Replica of Mt Vernon on west side of lake
Arboretum is nice except for heat
Fair Grounds have 1930s buildings
First, welcome to DFW area, the 4th largest market 7.7 million in the US and the only one of the 4 that continues to expand. Yes, our summer months are hot; especially this year. Think golden hours, because the rest are the hot hours. Also during the hot hours, think about indoor shoots, such as Jerry's World (AT&T Stadium), Reunion Tower shooting the grassy knoll from atop or even walk under most of downtown Dallas underground.
Ideas where to shot, first look up Nikola Olic's work
https://www.structurephotography.org/. Second idea, go to Flickr and type in the cities that make up DFW and select Photos. This will provide you a wealth of information. Use the Flickr search for almost anything.
Lastly, when driving in DFW, stay out of the Autobahn lane (left lane) and go as fast as you wish. If you are in a school zone and going 21+ mph they will shoot you...we have laws.
Check out the Dallas Arboretum to see if they have any special attractions that may be worthy of photo shoot. My guess is that plants and flowers may be suffering from too much heat.

I grew up in Dallas but was living closer to Ft Worth when I started photography, and that was where I shot mostly.
The Stockyards rodeo, if it's still open, had no restrictions on cameras. You were even encouraged to shoot right from the fence. It's a pretty interesting shot when you're at the same level as the bull when he comes out of the chute. If the rodeo is at the Dickies Arena I don't know the photography policy there.
The stockyards in general can offer some nice shots. There's a twice a day 'long horn cattle drive' down the street. Billy Bob's, the worlds largest honkeytonk, is in the stockyards and offers some great opportunities.
The Water Gardens is another place you should check out. Some great photo ops there.
Whether you shoot in Dallas or Ft Worth I hope you enjoy your visit!
Lots of places, downtown Dallas from the just about anywhere on the levy, White Rock Lake, the Arboretum, Dallas Zoo, downtown all over, Deep Ellum, around Dealey Plaza and around the courthouse plus tons of chances at street photography. Ft. Worth, around the Trinity off 7th Street, Zoo, Stockyards area, downtown street photography, Ft. Worth Nature Center, downtown architecture. Drive around, you'll find a lot of subjects.
In Ft. Worth the Botanical Gardens, especially the Japanese Garden, and the Modern Art Museum Of Modern Art nearby.
